1.The confirmation hearing for the new chief of the state broadcasting watchdog Lee Jin-sook began on Wednesday and will be held for two days until Thursday. Lee is a former journalist of public broadcaster MBC and was nominated by President Yoon Suk Yeol earlier this month.

2.The Joint Chiefs of Staff said Wednesday that North Korea again launched trash-filled balloons toward South Korea. The Presidential Security Service later announced that a trash-carrying balloon sent by North Korea had also landed on the presidential office compound.

3.The Korea Meteorological Administration issued a heat advisory on Wednesday for northern and central Seoul, the surrounding metropolitan area, and the northwestern part of Gangwon. Heat alerts have been issued for 173 out of 183 designated land areas nationwide.
