1.President Yoon Suk Yeol on Tuesday reinstated the civil rights of former South Gyeongsang Governor Kim Kyung-soo under Liberation Day special pardons. The pardon was endorsed after it was recommended by a justice ministry panel last week and approved during a Cabinet meeting earlier in the day.
2.The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency said Tuesday that the ongoing wave of COVID-19 is forecast to reach a peak around the end of August… and decided to expand the virus response team to enhance monitoring of the situation, analysis of infections and management of treatment and medical supplies.
3.Israel on Monday put its military on high alert and the Pentagon said it is sending a guided-missile submarine to the region and speeding up the arrival of a second aircraft carrier, amid heightened concerns about a possible Iranian and Hezbollah response to the killing of militant leaders in Tehran and Beirut.
