1. South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol on Tuesday met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. President Yoon expressed his wish to work with the UN to deter North Korea’s provocations and improve its human rights conditions.
2. The Asian Development Bank on Wednesday maintained its growth outlook for South Korea’s economy at 1.3%, and suggested the country will experience weaker than expected inflation. The ADB lowered its 2023 growth forecast for Asia to 4.7% from 4.8% in July.
3. South Korean athletes and officials for the Hangzhou Asian Games departed for China on Wednesday. South Korea will have a record delegation of 1,140 athletes and officials competing in 39 of 40 sports. The Hangzhou Asian Games will run from September 30th to October 8th.
