  • EP 400 - Focus on Dio
Seems like only yesterday we were exploring Master of Puppets on episode 300 and here we are 100 shows later. Hard to believe we have done 400 episodes of Focus on Metal. So with that in mind I guess it’s time to do a show focused on Ronnie James Dio.
First up we talk with longtime Dio guitarist Craig Goldy. Besides talking about Ronnie, Craig also discusses his latest project Dream Child.
Also on the show we talk with author James Curl about his book “Ronnie James Dio: A Biography of a Heavy Metal Icon.”

  • QR at 30
30 years ago this month Quiet Riot released QR (aka QR IV, Quiet Riot, or Quiet Riot IV). It wasn’t the classic lineup of the band in fact only drummer Frankie Banali and Carlos Cavazo remained from prior incarnations.
This time the band was fronted by veteran singer Paul Shortino and Sean McNabb replaced the recently departed Chuck Wright. All these changes conspired to make this release a tough one to sell to the fans.
Quiet Riot would not release another album for five years when Kevin Dubrow was welcomed back into the fold with the 1993 release “Terrified”.
Despite that, lots of folks do like this one so Richie decided to contact Carlos and Paul and pose some questions to them about this album on its 30th anniversary.
