Focused Fire Chat, a Destiny Lore Podcast

Epsiode 45 brings Blue, Justin, and Willy together to discuss the lore surrounding the most recent raid within Destiny - the King's Fall raid. The story of our overthrowing the pinnacle of the Taken power is one which contains a fair amount of lore, to say the least, so be sure to settle in for a good reading of Toland and Oryx commentary on the Guardians who challenge the throne (and the surprises that lie in store for those who expect a specific outcome before our fireteam takes the Taken King on).

Episode 44 brings Blue and Justin back together to discuss those enigmatic companions of ours in the world of Destiny, the Ghosts. As both of the hosts are fans of a number of the more psychological aspects of science fiction, especially in regards to the development and dealings with artificial intelligence, there is a rather large section of the epsiode dedicated to the conversation on what makes a personality within AI and if the Ghosts that we interact with in game have that or if they are merely a fragment and reflection of a larger collective of intelligence. The nature of the known history of Ghosts (what little we know of in game currently at least) is also discussed in regards to the potential connection to some other significant theories.

Episode 43 brings Blue, Justin, and Willy together to discuss the lore around another enigma of the Vex - those odd structures that seem to be taking over everything. What are they? Where did they come from? Why should we care about the declining value of the Venusian real estate scene? Answers (or at least theories) to these questions and some more details on that tasty looking 'Vex Milk' that Kabr raves about await your ears. As well as some good laughs and a few jokes (as usual).

Our 5th Extra Lore episode brings Blue, Justin, and special returning guest co-host WindoftheStars (aka, Mel) together to discuss a brief introduction to the overall storyline and characters found in Blizzard's multiplayer first-person shooter, Overwatch. The team starts with the events that lead up to the start of the game and then, from there, discuss some of the more well known figures and their connections to one another - with a few opinions thrown in to spice things up, as usual.

As we are trying out a new VOIP system, there are a few minor snags in audio - however, Blue is working behind the scenes to get the hamster wheels spinning in sync and hopes to have most of the issues resolved in the next few episodes for everyone.

Episode 41 brings Blue, Justin, Willy, and returning special guest co-host Forrest together to chat about the information available within Destiny concerning those enigmatic figures who we all love to hate - the Cryptarchs. While there isn't an overflow of information, there are certainly enough breadcrumbs to provide for an enlightening conversation - though one should be ready for some interesting trivia connections to the real world from Blue, as well as the ever present conversation about Paean and Rusty the Sweeper Bot from Willy.

Episode 40 brings Blue, Justin, Willy, and special guest co-host grneyedmusiklvr together to chat about the first Crota fireteam to brave the depths of the Hellmouth - and their ultimate fate. Even if the topic is grim, however, have no worries - there's jokes and laughter at every step with the group as they discuss the nature of the psychological trauma of the team, the details of what we know about the individuals who made up the fireteam, and ultimately what was the cause of their failure to assassinate the son of Oryx.

Please pardon some of the audio mishaps on this episode - Skype was being true to itself and decided to try to be as much of an interference with the conversation as possible. We are planning on taking a few steps to hopefully move to a smoother VOIP program here in the near future to make it a bit easier on your ears.

Episode 39 brings Blue, Justin, and Willy together to discuss the lore surrounding the raid from the Dark Below expansion of Destiny, Crota's End. The chat was pretty busy this past week breaking down the mechanics and explaining how the aspects made sense within the lore of the game, so the team dives right into that breakdown - while also establishing that the view of Titans as glorified Grumpy Cats was a completely and utterly factual perception (much to the dismay of one of the team). Enjoy the jokes and watch out for the Paean theory at the end - it's a doozy!

Episode 38 brings Blue, Justin, Willy, and guest co-hosts Demigod and Unisys together to discuss this previous week's chat discussion over the lore surrounding Guardian weapons within Destiny - something that is a difficult task to do (the chat generally focused more on the nuanced differences between the weapon foundries and some particular weapons - so we followed their discussion as best as possible within the time allowed). There are a number of humorous points throughout the episode (be sure to stay after the closing tunes this time for a special treat) - but the group does manage to hit on the basic differences between the weapons, as well as put forth the offer for anyone to send in feedback to be delved into more depth within Unisys' Destiny Item Lore series (see email link below to send us requests on that!).

Episode 37 brings Blue, Justin, and Willy back together to chat about the information that is available on the mysterious subject of Death and Resurrection within the Destiny universe. With something so central to the game world, there is surprisingly little information on the nature of death and the subsequent resurrection of Guardians (and some other creatures). Join us as we discuss the Sunsinger sub-class, laugh at the frustration that the Cabal express at the Guardian's refusal to lie down and die, and the information that Thanatonauts are searching for beyond the veil of death itself.
