This brother of light drops wisdom in your left ear and knowledge in your right.
This is our first episode of 2023! While I refrain from resolutions, we take a look at the year that was and outline the year ahead. In this episode, we restate our vision, purpose, and the benefit we seek to share with you. The purpose of our show is the dissemination of functional wisdom. What we mean by this is wisdom that goes beyond worn-out cliches, empty platitudes, and concepts that fail to inspire solutions to lives.
Support the show“Aim High … Fly-Fight-Win” is both a call to action and a promise in response. The Air Force always pushes itself to new heights (no pun intended) and expects its airmen to do the same. Former Air Force Navigator Lauren Billings is the embodiment of this motto in every endeavor she engages in, whether it's as an Air Force Officer, Merrill Lynch Wealth Manager, Business Owner, or Author, Lauren is an exemplary example for women and men on how to maintain an optimistic attitude, calm demeanor, and commitment to excellence that is above reproach.
In this episode, we discuss our shared military, Wall Street, and Entrepreneurial experience that has led to increased knowledge, expertise, and wisdom we learned from these experiences.
'Tis the season, as you travel to see friends and family or you are hosting friends and family, We wish you safe travels and the best of the holiday season. As we prepare for our upcoming episodes tomorrow, we wanted to take a moment and extend the warmest of wishes to you and yours. May you all be blessed!
Support the showIn this episode, we discuss the weather. Wait the weather? It's not what you think, well sorta, If you've ever felt that you're living in a fog that has or is lingering for days, weeks, months, or years, then you're not alone. This episode is for all of us that have had foggy times in our lives.
Support the showHappy Thanksgiving Everyone! In a spirit of gratitude and Thanksgiving, I wanted to share a message about how we can all incorporate a spirit of Thankfulness regardless of our circumstances. We are all too often Thankful when things seem to go our way, however, we can be Thankful when things are challenging, and desperate even, this is the true measure of a person. How do you behave when the storms are swirling around outside?
We hope you are inspired, encouraged, and reminded of all you have to be THANKFUL for...
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Support the showIn this episode replay, we return to The Rings That Bind Us because we believe our guests share important lessons on having faith in one's ability to bring their vision to fruition, the importance of working together, and the fact that lack of financial resources should not deter you from your goals. If it is your purpose to bring art or solutions to the masses, it will happen regardless of the barriers life puts in your way.
We are grateful to the creative team behind the Feature Film The Rings that Bind Us for sharing their journey and highlighting a slice of African-Americana that many have not seen on movie screens before.
Ok, So, THIS episode is a doozy! We ask the question is love overrated? And I answer in a very unique way. While this is just having a little fun, I go old school and do a little karaoke to make the serious point that given the state of the world today, our economy, war, scandals, and mass shootings, love seems to be in short supply and when we catch glimpses of love, do we take a cynical view of it, have we watered down the concept of love, because of our inability to sustain it? Well, I for one say that If love is overrated, let me be the one that is naive...How about you?
Listen to the entire episode, and for the record, it's REALLY clear that Gregory Porter IS NOT singing this song. So, be gentle with the brother of light, we work hard to drop wisdom in your left ear and knowledge or a song into your right. We hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did making it.
Support the showIn this episode, listeners are invited to share in Gene & Lily's conversation about aging, the aches and pains of it all in a humorous way, and how aging is not for sissies as Lily likes to say. Gene talks about the aches and pains of an active lifestyle without proper stretching. Ouch and Ouch! Throughout their humor, even mentioning women in menopause and the men that love them, they talk about the meaning behind the show's introduction and how it serves as the guiding principle behind what it means to be a part of Folk(e)s Unfettered. We ask the question to you, is two better than one? Would you like to hear more of Gene WITH Lily? These two think they're cute and funny, what do you think?
