Smithfield Farms Continues Cruel Practices – Smithfield Farms has been called to task numerous times by a host of organizations like the Humane Society of America and PETA about their treatment of crated pregnant sows who cannot move. They cannot even turn around in these small crates.
Although this policy is being “reviewed” and “on track” to be eliminated, no complete change has been made to mitigate this cruel practice.
Here is the disturbing interview we did on this topic a few years ago. Young children should not hear this.

What’s REALLY In Your Orange Juice? – Many Americans wake up each day looking forward to an ice-cold glass of orange juice with breakfast each morning. An easy way to get your vitamin C, this breakfast drink has become a staple in U.S. households.
Food And Travel Nation talked to the author of the book, “Squeezed”, Alissa Hamilton, about the orange juice industry and how they maintain flavor profiles for different brands of juice. Also, it turns out much of the commercial juice produced ends up in silos for months at a time. It can lose its flavor. Experts akin to those in the fragrance industry are hired to give back the smell and flavor to the stored juice before it is packaged and shipped to a supermarket near you.

Warning! China Now A Threat to our Pork Supply?
Did you know that a lot of Smithfield Farms pork is intended for consumption in China? That’s why a Chinese company, WH Group Ltd. purchased Smithfield in 2013. A Swine Fever outbreak caused a shortage of pork products in China in 2018, making pork even more scarce in China. Officials and some employees with Smithfield Farms expect the ever-increasing levels of pork shipments to China will cause a shortage of pork in the United States.
Additionally, the USDA is touting that pork is being exported to INDIA... a country, that for religious beliefs, generally shuns pork products.

Was Anthony Bourdain’s Death a Suicide – The Questions
Was Anthony Bourdain’s Death a Suicide – The Questions – Recently on Food and Travel Nation, we talked about a new documentary being released about the late writer and television personality, Anthony Bourdain. Most disturbing about the docu-drama was the subjective use of AI to recreate Bourdain’s voice.
Additionally, Elizabeth felt after previously interviewing him, the chances of Bourdain considering suicide were slim to none. You can listen to the previous interview HERE.
In this segment, we discuss all we know and some questions we still have about his “apparent suicide”. Also, we note his happiness that seemed to surround his new relationship with Asia Argento. (I incorrectly pronounced her last name in this piece.)
