AS clubs prepare for a full return to action in their respective 2021-22 campaigns, we cast an eye back over the latest international break, reflecting on England’s qualification for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

We’ll also cast our eye over the forthcoming weekend of fixtures involving Yorkshire’s clubs, as well as discussing the most signifiant events to have occurred while players were away on international duty, most notably, the appointment of Poya Asbaghi as the new head coach at Barnsley and the announcement of former Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder as the successor to Neil Warnock at Middlesbrough.

Sheffield United manager Slavisa Jokanovic probably didn’t bring in quite as many new faces as he hoped, while other clubs – no doubt Steel City rivals Sheffield Wednesday and Bradford City – were probably pleased with the way they went about their business, hitting double figures in terms of incomings.
