Finally, Harrogate Town boss Simon Weaver was left angered by his team’s softness as they went down 2-0 at Salford City.

The midweek derby between Hull City and Sheffield Wednesday at the KCOM Stadium is oikely to have been a significant occasion for the future of Tigers boss Tim Walter – and our podcast panel of Stuart Rayner and Leon Wobschall give their take on the season so far for the East Yorkshire club and what is likely to happen next.

They also cast their collective eyes over Huddersfield Town’s promising form which is gradually turning them into a genuine play-off contender in League One. 

Back in the Championship, Leeds United’s ability to bounce back from a lte equaliser by Swansea City and reply to post s 4-3 win in South Wales shows a resilience not seen perhaps enough times this season.

Huddersfield Town were another Yorkshire team to make the FA Cup headlines, but for all the wrong reasons when they crashed out at Tamworth on Friday night – although their owner Kevin Nagle, rarely slow to criticise his team’s performances in the past, came out in their defence and asked for fans to ease up in their criticisms of the team.

Having come head-to-head at the Riverside Stadium last week, The YP’s football writing team of Stuart Rayner and Leon Wobschall assess the season so far for Middlesbrough and Sheffield United – Boro wprevailing 1-0 in midweek over the Blades, who then responded with a confident 2-0 win over Stoke City at Bramall Lane. 

There was another Yorkshire derby taking pace over the last few days, too, this time Doncaster Rovers prevailing over host Bradford City to enhance their hopes of automatic promotion, while delivering a slight blow to the Bantams’ own hopes of getting out of League Two. 

Lastly, host Mark Singleton asks the team for their thoughts on the signing of midfielder Joshua Guilavogui by Leeds United, as well as their respective thoughts on their player and team of the week.
