With the Academy Awards quickly approaching, Alan & Chris fit in a review of one more award contender (“The Theory of Everything”). Afterwards they dive in to all the Oscar hoopla giving their predictions about who will/should win gold statues this year.

Traveling through time – both films this episode feature it…but one’s a biopic? No – you didn’t miss a news story on CNN about a scientific breakthrough. “The Imitation Game” makes generous use of flashbacks to show events in mathematician Alan Turing’s life, while “Predestination” goes the fictional fantastical route of jumping eras using a special violin case. After the gents finish reviewing these they rattle off some news stories and give their monthly recommendations.

Is a big budget raunchy buddy comedy your thing? How about a small, quiet reflective drama with performances by two big name actors? With reviews of “The Interview” and “Love Is Strange (2014)” this episode has a little bit of both art house & multiplex movie coverage – something for everybody. After all, we aim to please. The news segment is back with a discussion of David O’ Russell’s lost film and we round out the episode with some recommendations of films to check out.

Welcome to 2015 and the official Footcandle Films look back at 2014.  Alan & Chris offer up  their picks for the best and worst of 2014 along with some random categories like biggest surprise, biggest regret and a peek at their most anticipated films of the New Year.  What better way to kick off 2015 right?

With the end of the year approaching, awards and nominations are being announced left and right. Two big recent releases that have critics buzzing are Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar” and Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu’s “Birdman”. The Footcandle fellows are joined in studio by guest Abigail Taylor to discuss these films. With so much to discuss the usual news segment fell by the wayside… but don’t worry they still included some recommendations.

With the release of director David Fincher’s “Gone Girl” starring Ben Affleck the big films of the Fall have officially started rolling out to theaters. It is also the time when smaller independent films like “Life of Crime” starring Tim Robbins and Jennifer Anniston could slip under your radar.
