Y'all... this episode is on fire! I absolutely adored getting to know Elizabeth Fuller, also known as @YourBaddieHairGirl, https://www.instagram.com/yourbaddiehairgirl/ and delving into her unique story. Our journey took us from her Florida roots, where she learned the art of braiding from her grandmother, igniting a career in hair that has now spanned 15 incredible years.
We also dished about our experiences in beauty school – the good, the bad, and everything in between. I must admit, I'm a sucker for people who speak their minds and hold strong opinions, so hearing Liz's philosophies and her unfiltered candor was an absolute treat.
Another thing that stands out to me is the while Liz and I share a Black mixed-race heritage, our experiences going ups were wild different. Proving once again that Black and Brown folks and how we identify are not a monolith!
But I digress – Liz's dedication to sharing her knowledge with others speaks to my educator heart. She and fellow stylist Sophia Yasmin https://www.instagram.com/sophiayasminhair/ are hosting a balayage class in October that is not to be missed!
Anyone who takes what they've learned and generously shares it is someone I'm eager to learn more about.
Connect with Liz on her website. I also added a link to the class for salon pros looking to up their hair color game!

This week Mahogany and Marci discuss “The Fenty Effect”, scrolling to before the *black square* on brands’ social media, and how politics and social issues are interwoven into the hair and beauty industry.
After reflecting, Mahogany and Marci unpack last week’s discussion of “The Big Chop” and acknowledge that the term carries much more weight for women of color. They also discuss the differences between appreciating and appropriating hairstyles.
