Are you tired of the endless search for the perfect productivity app? In this For Perspective episode, I cut through the noise of complex systems and make a case for the power of "Boring Productivity."

First up, I'll give you a quick hit of tech and AI news: Apple's been quiet, Beats has new cables (but I'm still Team Anker!), and Verizon's offering intriguing bundles like Google One with Gemini Advanced.

Plus, OpenAI might be building another social app (why?), while Elon Musk's xAI snaps up X (Twitter) to boost Grok.

Then, I dive deep into the main topic: Is complexity killing your productivity? I argue that built-in, free apps like Apple Notes, Reminders, and Calendar (or Google Keep/Tasks, Microsoft To-Do/OneNote) are underrated powerhouses. Forget feature overload and subscription fatigue – these "boring" tools just work.

Why I Think "Boring" is Better:• Simplicity: Less of my mental energy wasted on setup.

• Reliability: Built right into the OS I use daily.

• Accessibility: Everywhere I need them, even offline.

• Free!: No cost, no catch – saves me money.

• Fundamental Focus: Helps me master the basics, not get lost in endless features.

I'll contrast this with the downsides I see in complex apps – the constant "productivity treadmill," expensive integrations (looking at you, Zapier!), data lock-in, and learning curves that steal time. Learn how I think about applying the 80/20 rule and focusing on building productive habits, not just finding the fanciest tool.
