In this episode, we take a look into the first-generation experience at Brown with an interview of Sophia Ordoñez. She is currently a Junior at Brown University and is double majoring in Economics and Public Health. She’s the Campus Engagement Coordinator for the Latinx Student Union, Financial Chair for the Public Health Departmental Undergraduate Group, Secretary for the Latinx Program House @ Brown, Treasurer for First Gens @ Brown, an analyst in the Healthcare Investment Group, and an undergraduate researcher in the Brown School of Public Health. April 30, 2023 Grad School and Beyond First-Gen Through the Years
In this episode, we kick off the last episode of the First-Gen Through the Years series featuring Emil Sol. Emil Sol is currently the Program Coordinator of the Center for Service and Justice at Loyola High School of Los Angeles, his alma mater. He is also a graduate of LMU’s class of 2022 where he earned his Bachelor's in Spanish. He is also set to earn his Master's in Educational Studies from LMU this May. While at LMU, Emil was heavily involved with First to Go. He worked for First To Go all four years of undergrad and was the Lead Administrative Coordinator and a Peer Facilitator. He was also featured in the third episode of For the Gen season 3. Listen as we discuss his first gen experience post-grad.

April 14, 2023 Junior & Senior Experience First-Gen Through the Years
In this episode, we kick off episode 2 of First-Gen Through the Years series featuring our guests Natalie Lopez and Veronica Gomez. Natalie Lopez is a Junior Film Production major and double minor in Chicana/o and Latina/o studies and business administration. She has a great deal of experience in the entertainment industry, some of which include working at the Oscars, Emmys, SAG Awards, and with London Alley Entertainment. She has also worked on music videos for Lizzo and Post Malone and has directed several short films and documentaries. She is currently an executive assistant at Suhloot, a software development company. Our second guest in this episode is Veronica Gomez. She is a Senior majoring in Sociology and double minoring in Peace and Justice Studies And Political Science. Currently, at LMU she is part of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc., MEChA De LMU, El Espejo Mentorship, Alternative Breaks Trip Leader to Belize, Sociology Society, Alpha Alpha Alpha: First-Gen Honor Society, Alpha Kappa Delta: Sociology Honor Society, First To Go Program, Ignacio Student Support Services and McNair Scholars Program. She also works for First to Go as a Peer Outreach Specialist, Peer Lead Instructor, and Student Lead Administrator. And lastly, she is going to UCLA for her master's in education! Day 38 of living down in the description, my body has now just fully become one big callous from being down here for so long. Julius is doing well, thanks for asking, he says hi. You know I miss that part of being a kid where you were able to dedicate yourself to something for like 3 months and you’d be better at that one thing more than everybody else for like the next 3-4 years. I guess you can still do that but for the most part everyone already has the cool ones down like skateboarding, tax fraud, and Minecraft. ugh…

In this episode, we kick off our First-Gen Through the Years series featuring our firsts guest Vez Claudio and Xion Nelson. Vex is a freshman majoring in Film production with a minor in philosophy. Currently, at LMU he just became a part of the service org Creare. He is next year's director of Marketing for RHA and part of First to Go and Ignacio Student Support Services. He is also getting more involved with videography for campus events. Our second guest is Xion Nelson who is a sophomore majoring in Mathematics. Currently, at LMU she is part of Belles service org. She is also a part of First To Go and is currently a math grader, community impact coordinator, and peer facilitator. She was also a TLC participant in her freshman year. It’s just the last episode of the season, but also the year! We’ll be returning next year for season 6 don’t worry. I can assure you that we all have work-study that needs to be fulfilled.
