Welcome to the spring semester of season 2 of For The Generation!! This episode unpacks the psychological and emotional impact of being a student AND first-gen student. In a generation where depression and anxiety are extremely prevalent. We had the pleasure of speaking to Gabriela Pineda, a registered associate marriage and family therapist, whose holistic approach is guided by an integrative framework in the Mind and Body Connection. The central focus of this episode is inter/transgenerational trauma. This type of trauma is passed down through generations that have experienced major and traumatic life events. Gabriela gives us an understanding of the complexities within family dynamics that contribute to this trauma. Gabriela gives us advice on how to deal with transgenerational trauma and how being a first-gen intersects with her profession as a therapist. We advocate for the whole well-being of all, and we hope that this episode encourages you to put yourself first and to take the necessary steps to a healthy mind, body, and soul.
