  • Can't Keep Up With Jones

This week's episode I discuss what it looks like when your expectations of serving within the Kingdom of God don't line up with your reality or with how you see others living out their assignments. The western/modern image of someone who has a high calling in the kingdom of heaven is equated with followers, views, social recognition and stages and I've been trying to keep up. I've been trying to "prove" that I deserve to be here or that I can steward these things in my life and my view and perspective of "ministry" have been very skewed.

If we're being honest, it feels much more attainable to be "like" someone we view as a role model than it does to be made more into the image of Jesus- that feels impossible- and out of our control. The Lord, in his mercy and kindness, is using this time to bring these ideologies to light and correct my wrong thinking.

  • The Idol of Certainty

Don't we all just love certainty and clarity? We all want clear and defined answers in the way we expect them. But if you're like me, you may be realizing that you have unknowingly idolized certainty and clarity to the detriment of your faith and trust in God. True faith is trusting Jesus when you don't know with 100% certainty what the next step entails. This conversation is definitely just the beginning of what I believe to be a season where God is pruning this idol out of me.

I discuss the pride that has so easily creeped in by way of trying to validate my pursuits and it's left me exhausted and depleted. I've been striving, in a sense, to "maintain" my salvation because somewhere along the way I believed the lie that I needed to. I truly think God in his graciousness and mercy is allowing my "wick" to burn all the way out- for me to come to the end of myself- in order to fully grasp the necessity of the rest only Jesus can provide.

  • Have You Considered?

On today's episode I discuss my recovery from Endometriosis surgery and how the last 6 months in my life have left me depleted. I have been struggling greatly with the notion of being intimate with the Lord. It has felt awkward and uncomfortable, like a wall that I have not been able to break down yet. Wrestling with asking why I had to incur the suffering of the last few months- feeling like Jacob and Job all at once.

I process through not needing to know why while knowing I need Jesus to keep going, why I have a fracture in my trust with him and the importance of still praising despite him not showing up in the way you had wanted or expected.

  • The Second Mile | Part I w/ Chris Black

This week on the podcast I am so incredibly excited to introduce you all to my friend, Chris Black! Chris and I shot a music video together 3 years ago and he has a new album in the works again! We discuss his music, faith and some of the darker times of his life. The parable of the talents and the prodigal son's brother are resounding themes we kept returning to in our conversation on stale seasons with God, running and finishing the race well and taking risks while not overthinking all of our decisions.

  • We Are All "The One" Part II

In Part II of this episode, I share my testimony and the moments where I have personally felt like the one lost sheep that Jesus has pursued after and brought back to Himself. The voice of the devil is one of condemnation, making us feel like we've done too much or are too far gone for God to want us, but that is a lie. God is waiting for us, running after us, wanting us to come to Him. Even if you have wandered, even if you have strayed, the Lord is still close in love and grace with open arms ready to wrap around you, pick you up, clean you off and carry you home.

  • We Are All "The One" Part I

On this episode of the podcast, I dive into times throughout my relationship with God that I have felt like "the one." As Season 1 is coming to a close, I thought it would be helpful to reflect and encourage those who feel like the dirty, tired, runaway lamb- referenced in the art piece by Kevin Carden that has been the anchor and basis of this podcast. I discuss the reality of being a Christian that has wondered away, gotten lost and has been chased down by the Lord to be brought back home.

  • Sit With the Tension (Psalm 32)

Today I dive into Psalm 32 and the story of David repenting of his sin in 2 Samuel. The Psalms are a beautiful body of the highs and lows of the human experience in relation to their Creator- from grief to praise- every emotion is covered. David wrote many of the Psalms we know and love and that Jesus quoted in the New Testament.

I wanted to explore and sit with an uncomfortable tension: acknowledging that without one of David's worst and sinful decisions we would not see his expression in other Psalms of the greatness of God's love and depth of His mercy and forgiveness toward those who humble themselves and come repentant before Him. Without the lowest of moments of depravity and grief we would not know the extent of patience, kindness and grace- we would not understand why our praise to God means so much more when we know what He has saved us from when we did not deserve it.

Seeing examples like David's, of God restoring, redeeming and taking what was meant for evil and turning it for good, should stir up our hope in and gratitude for Christ even more!

  • Community: Messy & Beautiful | Part II w/ Kevin Coyne

This week I welcome on my friend Kevin Coyne, a fellow creative and Christian from childhood he brings an insightful perspective and burden to the current state of the westernized church. In Part II, we discuss Sabbath, unmet expectations, discernment and getting our security from God. We also talk about how God leads us in steps and sometimes through just opening doors as well as how our burdens and gifts reflect the areas He has redeemed and given us authority over.
