In the Episode 5, the FINALE of For the People Podcast, we jump back to Pastor Michael McBride, W. Kamau Bell, and DeVon Franklin's discussion on mental health near the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The trio gets real about the ways the Black community tends to deny our mental health concerns, how the newly-implemented lockdown would surely bring about its own set of challenges, and even how mental health knows no economic or social privilege.
Lori Webster Fore and Justin Warren from the Hush Harbor team then share how they've seen mental health issues play out more than a year into the pandemic by discussing their own challenges, the apparent increase in suicides, and how we can help ourselves when we notice we aren't feeling our best.
Take a listen to all of the gems dropped in our final episode and be sure to carry them with you as you move forward.

In the discussion, Coach Kerr gets real about privilege vs. white privilege, how white people can use their platform to advocate for people of color, and also about how the NBA is doing its part to address violence in America.
From there, Hush Harbor CEO Jamari Perry joins host Brittani Graves and the two old friends have a candid talk about their experiences navigating whiteness and white privilege as Black women. They also touch on how allies can add the most value to the movement for justice and equality.

In Season 1, Episode 2 of #ForThePeoplePod, we return to last summer's Bring the HEAT Town Hall with Tamika Mallory & Linda Sarsour at the height of the summer 2021 protests. Together, they connect with Ben & Michael McBride to discuss:
After their conversation, Pastor Mike McBride joins Hush Harbor's Brittani Graves to analyze how far we've come in the year since with the passage of Breonna's Law; the killing of Daunte Wright just miles outside of Minneapolis; and the impending verdict of former officer Derek Chauvin.
Note: Since this recording was made, 16 year-old Ma'Khia Bryant was killed by a police officer in Columbus, OH. Less than 30 minutes after she was murdered, Chauvin was found guilty in the death of George Floyd.

In our very first episode of #ForThePeoplePod, we revisit the discussion between Senator Elizabeth Warren, Pastor Michael McBride & comedian W. Kamau Bell as they answer critical questions like: Who are the workers that really keep our country running in a crisis? What are they owed? Where is the humanity in policymaking?
Looking forward, our host discusses the strides we've made in the year since COVID-19 hit and where we fall short, and most importantly, what we can all do to move the needle.
