Unless you’ve been living under a Snorlax, you’ve probably heard about the wildly popular new augmented reality game, Pokémon Go. The game uses your smartphone’s camera, GPS, and position sensors to tell the game what to display and where, creating the illusion that cute little cartoon “pocket monsters” are standing in your living room, on the sidewalk outside, or in the park nearby.

If you’ve found yourself singing along to Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off,” then you’ve been attracted by a formula. Hit pop songwriters follow a formula called track-and-hook that make songs almost irresistible. Ninety percent of the revenues in the music business come from 10% of the songs, and a handful of writers write many of those hits songs because they’ve mastered the formula. In Hollywood, movies also follow a formula.

Any city vying to stand up a tech or innovation hub has to have coworking spaces for budding entrepreneurs, remote workers, and freelancers.

The reality television show Shark Tank makes for entertaining content but many of its underlying messages are potentially detrimental to tech entrepreneurs. Thus, emerging entrepreneurs should parse fact from fantasy by watching the show with an experienced business pro. Relax. I get that Shark Tank is a TV show focused on entertaining its viewers. Having appeared in a reality series, I am well aware of the lack of reality involved in this entertainment genre.
