Often when a tough task isn’t quite clicking, you know the best way to change things up is to take a break. You’ll come back refreshed, with a new perspective that can help you break through a mental block. And yet, so often when the job search is getting people down, they take a more-is-more approach.

We are living through a tumultuous period in the history of work and employment. Since we are in the middle of the blender as it spins, trying our best to avoid getting sliced into bits by its blades, it can be hard for us to see the larger picture. Long-term employment is already gone and medium-term employment is going away, too. Our tenure at each new assignment gets shorter and shorter.
