Ever since I could remember I’ve been a big believer in lifelong learning and as a founder of Proversity, a mobile recruitment and professional development learning platform, I follow a simple mantra set by Henry Ford: “Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at 20 or 80. Anyone who keeps learning stays young.” Rather fittingly I found myself with 6,000+ summiteers at the 2016 Forbes Under 30 Summit in Boston in October and came away with three lessons for any entrepreneur.

One of the primary complaints about millennial employees is that they often expect frequent promotion or raises, when they have not put in the work to earn them. While many see this as entitled, it’s important to unpack where this tendency comes from. According to a recent Addison Group survey, 82% of millennials expect a promotion and/or raise at least every other year. Clearly this is a trend that cannot be ignored, as most young adults desire it.

Shutterstock As a recruiter, I’ve seen many job offers fall apart over the significant other. For example, in a relocation, the candidate was willing to make the move but the partner nixed it. Even in an offer situation for the same city, a partner’s hesitation could derail the deal. A deal-breaker raised by the significant other was so common that one of my recruiting colleagues always included a dinner with the partner during the selling process.

Three new technologies are in the hype cycle for the first time including Ad Blocking, Predictive B2B Marketing Analytics and Mobile Wallet. Gartner’s 2015 Data-Driven Marketing Survey shows that B2B respondents outspend B2C on marketing analytics — 45% versus 26%. Predictive segmentation and demand generation have quickly gained traction, fueled by the rise of account-based marketing (ABM).

I was happy to be able to set my company apart from the other employers in Chicago by killing off stupid, outdated rules and policies. Getting rid of pointless and insulting HR practices made it easier for my company to hire and hang onto tremendous employees, many of whom are still my homies today.

How could she speak so disrespectfully to a job applicant? Doing so is unprofessional and gives all recruiters a bad name. I own a recruiting firm.
