Mengqi Ji's marriage to Joseph Elledge wasn't going so well. The couple fought frequently and Joseph began to abuse her. Then the 28 year old mother vanished into thin air. Investigators suspected her husband, even before her remains were found in 2021. While they had a great circumstantial case, they needed something more solid linking Joseph to Mengqi's murder. It took plant DNA to crack the case!
