GOD IS COMMITTED IN THIS COVENANT WITH US. ARE WE COMMITTED TO THIS COVENANT AS THE BRIDE?

WE LIVE IN A CULTURE THAT DESIRES INTIMACY WITHOUT RESPONSIBILITY AND PLEASURE WITHOUT COVENANT.

This week we had guest speaker, Ed Strong, from One Life Church in Pietermaritzburg. He shares with us the difference between 'scattered" and "shattered" with regards to the church right now. Shattered has the notion of being destroyed and in the negative. Where scattered has a sense of sowing and planting out in the positive.

The optimism test: Do you see the glass half FULL or half EMPTY??? Chris askes the question to ultimately explain: The Spirit WITHOUT LIMIT!

IS THE GLASS HALF FULL OR HALF EMPTY – IT DEPENDS ON WHO IS DOING THE LOOKING!

1. Rather demonstrate than talk
2. People need to experience God in order to understand
3. The holy spirit describes truth in his own vocabulary.

We may be asking the wrong questions. Instead of asking “Where is God?” we should ask “What is God doing right now?”
God is knocking at the door (heart/lives) of believers (church) that may have disregarded him. In REV 3:20 - Jesus is saying I will come share with you where you are at – then come and share in the inheritance I have for you.
REVELATION 3:20 - 20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.
The holy spirit gives us keys and streamlines our lives BUT we sometimes treat him like an outsider.

- What is God doing in the world? - (What is happening in the world right now (Covid 19) has not caught God unprepared. The situation we are in has caused the systems of the world to wobble – not God.)
- What is God doing in our nation?
- What is God doing in our town?
- What is God doing through the Holy Spirit in our church?
- What is God doing in your home?

EPHESIANS 4:30
1 COR 2:16

Chris talks about the ten virgins waiting for the groom. In waiting, they ALL fell asleep, but when the groom arrived five were prepared with extra oil in their lamps and five were not, having to leave temporarily to get more oil which resulted in them being late and thus rejected by the groom.

MAT 24:44
So, you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

1 THESSALONIANS 1:3
We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your
labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

MAT 25:1-13 – PARABLE OF THE 10 VIRGINS
Do you have enough oil in your lamp? Do you have enough hope?

MAT 25: 14-28 – PARABLE OF THE TALENTS
Do you trust me with your wealth & resources? Can I trust you to multiply the wealth and resources I have given you?

NOTHING WORKS LIKE THE LOCAL CHURCH – WHEN THE LOCAL CHURCH WORKS WELL.
The church we see in the bible was a radical community (1 THESSALONIANS 1:3-10), they were a real church for real people. This is the same vision that Chris & Suzaan had for Foresight church.

WHAT MADE THIS COMMUNITY DIFFERENT?
• Joy & Sincerity
• Purpose & mission
• Overflowing love

1 Thes 1: 3-10
Acts 2:41-42.

What did people feel when Jesus died? When we hear bad news we often go into distress and distress distorts reality. One word from Jesus can change your life and the resurrection power of Jesus can breakthrough into your life in an instant.

Lockdown has changed the way we do life and has temporarily become our new normal
• What have we done with our time?
• Has lockdown intensified our relationship with Jesus?
• Have we become the disciple spoken about in John 13:35?

Scripture: Mark 10:17-27

The Rich Young Ruler

• He had all the comforts of life
• Didn’t have to do much because he had it all
• When ask to lay it all down and follow Jesus, he couldn’t. Fear of the unknown
• He didn’t realize that Jesus would take care of him in ways unimaginable
Questions
• What did it look like to be a Christian pre-Corona/Lockdown?
• What does it look like to be a Christian during Lockdown?
• What will it look like being a Christian post Lockdown?
The message of All In is simple: if Jesus is not Lord of all then Jesus is not Lord at all. It’s all or nothing.
• The Gospel costs nothing. You can’t earn it or buy it. It can only be received as a free gift compliments of God’s grace. It doesn’t cost anything, but it demands everything.
• It demands that we go “all in,” a term that simply means placing all that you have into God’s hands.
• You’ve never actually sacrificed anything for God, if you always get back more than you gave up, have you sacrificed anything at all?
Lasting thought
• Going ALL IN, means dethroning yourself, and enthroning Him.

(In keeping with the COVID-19 lock-down regulations, we are recording our messages from our homes, which may affect the sound quality)

Immaturity to maturity through adversity.
Deuteronomy 8:16
Adversity has a purpose so in the end it may go well with you.
The process from slavery to victory.
God leads, prepares and refines us through trials.

4 Levels of Victory

1. Live
2. Increase
3. Enter
4. Possess

James 4:10
Proverbs 18:14
Proverbs 30:21-23

Discipline is NOT punishment.
Discipline teaches us to obey God.
No promotion without process.
Humility is trusting in God.
