A new season is upon us. While we didnt start this venture at the dawn of the new year, we are considering this season 2. If you have followed us for long enough now you will know that Justin and Lando have been at this game for more than just the podcast. In fact, all of this started as @manitoba_smiths and has grown from there. With the onset of Covid we had to find a new way to bring content to our group. ManIron was our first event held by the Manitoba Blacksmith Guild and we decided to keep that train going by hosting a virtual edition of that. We then really put on our big boy pants and took on a virtual edition of CanIron. The bi-annual event that ties all of Canada together. This event follows the path of the @abana.blacksmith gatherings and for us to be involved was a dream.

This venture has been in the works for a while as we had spoken with the host of Blacksmither Radio Victoria Patti of @blacksmithervic . She had given a ton of direction on how to get going. We had the great pleasure of connecting with others such as @dkforgeworks

David has been playing with metal for a heck of a long time now so his knowledge with how it moves and what to do with it is vastly deep. The hosers go East to chat with Working Hands Podcast host, Tony Woodland. Tony Woodland of the @workinghandspodcast joined us this week for a forge side chat.

Tony is hard at work making a good hobby for himself with blacksmithing.

With a very smart approach to the craft Tony is building his shop space up and collecting the tooling he needs in order to make this happen.

Like so many he runs into the issue of working with his neighbours to ensure that he can maintain a hobby that wont have his them hating him.

Working out of a small shed in his backyard Tony has been able to hone his skills that he has taken time to research as well as the lessons he has absorbed from some of the great people he has been involved with.

Our style of banter isn't Tony's usual game, but I think we got him chuclking a few times with our BS.

The two hosers, Justin and Lando have a Forge Side Chat with Benoit Laurent of Stewart Mountain Forge of Victoria BC.  Benoit has the background story we all wish we had. Enthralled at a young age, Benoit found his self taking such a strong interest in the craft that he packed his bags and headed across the pond for some journeyman experience. The young man has now secured himself a awesome contract with one of our local favourites, @princess_auto

Benoit now resides on the beauty of Vancouver Island where he partakes in his local group V.I.B.A.
