Hey folks,
Please consider grabbing an FTN T-shirt to help us celebrate the shows anniversary. The link can be found here. Proceeds will go to doing something nice for cast members of the show. The sticker is cool too and has been on my laptop for a year. It’s the best sticker I’ve ever owned.
We also started a Patreon for the FTN show. This will help us a lot in the form of being able to hire an editor and a few other things. If it is anywhere within your ability to support us on that platform please consider doing so. The link is right here.
It is a busy week as everyone hastily prepares for the big show happening next week! We won’t be able to record next week as most of us will be on sight in ATL.
I’m pleased to say we have a link for the official Warhammer Merchandise Store! Check out our link here if you plan on picking up something!
In the first part of the show we re-cap last week’s talk a little bit and there is a highlight on the joy of the game.
In the second part of the show Red talks about Imperial Agents as they are very close to his heart right now.

Paul’s youngest gave a shot at painting Necrons this past week and we talk about getting started as a new painter. The models in the thumbnail are the ones he did. Check them out! Do you know any new hobbyist getting started soon?

Getting started as a new painter is a little intimidating. I did my best not overwhelm what might have just been a passing desire to give it a shot by telling him just how many paints he needs or what the ‘perfect’ colors are or whatever. We just sat down with some assembled and primed minis and messed around a bit with Washes a Drubrush and then finished off with a basic edge highlight. He says he had fun. We’ll see if he wants to paint anymore.

Of course I went and built 30 more models and primed them for him the next day… ha! it is taking a lot of restraint to not just try to dive in and overwhelm him with information but we are just going to take it one step at a time. He already plays a little bit but I hope to encourage him to take things at his own pace and be proud of what he makes.
In the second part of the show we talk about getting ready for the Grand Narrative here in a few weeks. It is going to be amazing. You’ll get to tune in for a lot of the coverage for the Warhammer 40k and Age of Sigmar championships that weekend.

This is a short show this week. With Halloween and some other events happening this week we thought it would be best to get a short show out instead of having to delay. We hope y’all agree! We talk about a cool team event Tanya is heading to soon.

In the first part of the show we talk about misplays and how to make them less likely to occur. It happens, sure. But how do you make it less likely to happen? In the second part of the show we wax poetically about a neat topic.

We’re back to the FTN nitty gritty this week. In the first part of the show we talk about a Blade Guard rule misplay and how something small can make a big impact on the game. We talk about the spirit of play and try to focus on getting closer and closer to perfect games without giving any sort of pass to the misplays or folks that might seek to intentionally misplay something under the guise of an ‘oops.’
We also talk about an amazing charity happening right now. The link can be found here. They will ship all over the world.

In the second part of the show we talk about the little glimpses one can achieve to plot and plan our their moves far in advance. It may seem like magic to your opponents but we talk about the building blocks of being able to see the future.
After that we talk about batch painting!

The game is in a good spot right now. There are a few outliers but was it wide spread? Did we need huge overhauls? We don’t think so and the designers didn’t seem to think so either. We got some nudges here and there was was it enough? Too much? I guess it depends on what army you play.

The show is mostly about the changes this week. It looks like Thousand Sons and Drukari might have been hit the most. The Dark Eldar is a bit of a head scratcher but maybe they are seeing stuff we don’t.

There may be some nice winners here depending on who you ask. We sort of think that now that some of the ‘big lists’ might have been toned down just a little the ecosystem will allow some of those lists on the cusps to feel more powerful and maybe dial up their wins a little.
We love it when change hits the game like this. We talk about Guard a little bit as well and they were great before the changes and hardly got apart from Bullgryn. A lot of lists weren’t running them anyway…

New Blood Angels models hit the website for preorder today and man oh man.. I am excited. Games Workshop sent us the new models to review and paint up. Wow. So much fun and basically auto includes for Blood Angel players. We review the Sanguinary Guard and the Sanguinor models.

In part 2 of the show we talk about some big changes in the Magic the Gathering world and how it might apply to our Warhammer competitive scene. I know these are not 1 to 1 comparable things but it does help to keep an eye on the other side of the fence. They have a very mature scene over there.
We go down a bit of a rabbit hole but these are the types of conversations I love to have with my buddies.

Games Workshop was nice enough to send us a copy of the new Kill Team rules and we give our first impressions of the game and some of the cool new changes. In the second part of the show we talk about how to Netlist.. Nothing wrong with borrowing someone else’s ideas sometimes.

The new Kill Team is extremely fun and a cool way to get play a fully immersive game in a short amount of time. Each model, even a basic trooper in 40k, will feel like a hero. Tons of wounds, tons of potential and tons of fun. The game is more streamlined and has a PvE mode that seems like a ton of fun to play.

In the second part of the show Tanya asks ‘how do I make a netlist work?’ This is an interesting question and it is not as straightforward as you may think.
Too many players take too much for granted and when the situation doesn’t line up exactly then the wheels come off. We sort of highlight these concerns so you can watch out for them.

Wondering what the best Blood Angel detachment is? Wonder no more. We run down the comparables and focus a little bit on the Liberator Assault Group from the upcoming Blood Angel Codex. It’s good and will likely but what current BA players try while they figure out the nuances of the other two detachments.

I tried out the Liberator Assault Group this past weekend using Dante, Mephiston, The Sanguinor, Lemartes and a lot of standard red marines. Including some Blade Guard. It did really well and should be a powerful list right out of the gate for BA players.

The Plus 1 Attack and Plus 2 Strength combined with some unit abilities are pretty amazing. I wasn’t sure about the Blade Guard at firs but I honestly liked how they performed when accompanied by a Lieutenant.
In the back half of the show we gush over the new Skaven models. Age of Sigmar continues to knock it out of the park with release after release. What do you think of the new minis?

We kick off the show talking about what lists did the best at the NoVA Open this past weekend. Chaos Space Marines are on the rise but what else? Is the good stuff from earlier in the month still winning? In the back half of the show we complain a little about Blood Angels and Dark Angels.

Chaos Space Marine hoards won this past weekend largely with their ability to dominate the board and present some interesting problems for what people are taking in lists now-a-days. Are they now the top dogs or was it just the right place right time situation?

Generals aren’t resting on old tech to crack new problems – that’s for sure. This is one of the best things about a fairly balanced living breathing meta. People get to try to attack it and that’s fun and fresh.
In the back half of the show Paul kicks it off with a slight bit of complaining and then talking about the Blood Angels. All kidding aside I don’t think it is complaining to wishlist and ‘want’ things from something you care about. What do you think?

Oh happy day! We got our hands on the new Blood Angels Codex and it’s amazing. We jump out of the gate talking briefly about the not so great and then dive into the sweet sweet goodness that is the rest of the book. It’s different but is it more powerful? Is it the most powerful we’ve ever been?

I am loving the new Blood Angels book. There are three compelling detachments where you can make a case for most of your collection (the part of your collection that survived the cuts).

The Sanguinary Guard are going to make their way back on to the table top for sure. Different weapon options but the same battlefield role and they absolutely do it better than they used to with a 4+ invulnerable save.
The Red, Black and the Gold are ways you can sort of define the detachments in your head. Mephiston is back and in full glory almost back to the way he was in 5th edition. BA fans should ultimately love this book but it doesn’t come without some suffering. Sort of like the BA are used to, ha!
