Thanks for sticking with us after a week of vacation. We are back with a little bit of recap from the Games Workshop US Open event in New Orleans and we also ponder a little bit on Black Templars and what did well at both the NOLA tournament and the recent Las Vegas Team Tournament
Hey all,
Red, Tanya and Adam are all back on the show this week for a nice jaunt through a series of topics.
We talk a little bit about the Black Templar posts on the Warhammer Community page too. Next week we’ll bring all the spicy goodness from it to the airwaves. It is going to be a great codex with a series of awesome models too.
We talk about the New Orleans tournament in what did well, who took it down, and the general feel of the event. It was awesome and I’m so happy to be a part of it.
We chat a bit about the lore of 40k again – as we’re all reading lore books at the moment. We basically cover the whole hobby in this episode.
Next week we’ll be back with the Finishing Moves Segment – Quick Cloth.

We may see a whole new slugfest developing over the next couple of tournaments. Two or three armies that can absolutely dominate the middle of the table have dropped and people will be bringing them to the table. We talk about Grey Knights, Orks and Thousand Sons in the first half of the show. In the back half we talk about how to beat them!
Hey all,
Dustin Henshaw joins us as a guest on the show hot on the heels of us recording the Thursday Show over on the FLGN.
We tee up how next weekend I’ll be streaming on Warhammer TV and how the terrain in Orlando had a hand in giving a few army types a fighting chance. We hypothesize how the middle table is where a lot of action may go down at the next tournament and in the future,
We kick around some ideas on Grey Knights and Orks. Weirdly it seems like damage 2 weapons might be a suckers bet. I never thought I’d see the day…
This is all conjecture at this point as Admech and Drukhari may continue to dominate the field. But like we say on the show, the door is cracked and some savvy generals may come busting through with a bevvy of Smites, Dakka Dakka and beastly close combat.
NEXT WEEK, Paul will be on vacation so there won’t be a regular release but please come join us on stream on Warhammer TV live from New Orleans next weekend!

Red is back for part two of our Culture Crafting discussion. I know so few of us actually end up running events but I do think it’s worth talking about all the decisions that go on behind the scenes for what is ultimately a host trying to put on a good time.
Hey folks,
It’s great to have Red back with us this week to dive deeper into the organizer decision making process.
Apologies for the late upload on this show! I try to hit the same time every week but I missed the mark this week.
In this episode we talk about the little nudges that Organizers make that can have a HUGE impact on the attendance and enjoyment of events. While this may not apply to you since you aren’t starting a tournament anytime soon it’s cool to know what the TOs may be thinking. You can also suggest a few things to them that you may like.
What I hope to accomplish is to inject a lot of conversation points into the dialogue so players and TOs can meet minds and hopefully come away with unique and characterful experiences all over the globe playing Warhammer.
Later in the show we tease that Paul was heading to GenCon last week. He’s back.. and now we have this show.. ha!

The hobby segment this week is all about how to get started with an airbrush. We start from the very beginning – don’t go super expensive on your first brush purchase. You will likely regret it.

The title is very click baity and I don’t mean that on purpose. We’re joined by Pleasant Kenobi for a great segment in the middle of the show to talk about his journey into Warhammer 40k and I ask him a lot of questions about the comparison of game philosophy and approach to competitive play.
Hey all,
We kick off the show with a great lore questions of Did the Emperor Plan it all? Is the whole Imperium by design? Did all the stuff that seemed to be going wrong for the big E really fall right within his grand design?
It’s neat because everyone on the show is in a different place with reading the Horus Heresy and Siege of Terra novels so we all know different things and we’re all have a few bits and pieces of the secrets. We talk as much as we can about it with no spoilers. I hope you enjoy it and you have your own questions.
In the middle of the show there is a nice long segment with Pleasant Kenobi from YouTube and other stuff. He is a joy to talk to and I have blast talking with other content creators that also play other games. In this case the discussion floats between Magic the Gathering and Warhammer 40k. Vince is awesome and if you haven’t already checked out his content please do.
The concept of Warhammer 40k vs anything else never really comes up for most gamers but it was cool to talk about the different approaches to list and deck designs and how the two games are RADICALLY different.
The one similarity between the two games is that they can both be played ultra competitively. There are not right or wrong ways to enjoy these games. The players and the players you interact with can absolutely define what ‘fun’ is in these situations One interesting point is that in Warhammer the social contract seems to be a lot more open than in MTG.

Are you looking to start hosting Warhammer Tournaments or Events? Are you looking for tips on how to make these more fun for your participants or expand the groups that show up? Then we have an episode for you…
Hey folks,
We have talked a bit about this episode a lot in the past with casual mentions and promises that we would dive deep into this topic in the future. The FUTURE IS NOW! Planning tournaments or events can be a lot more complicated than just posting ‘come to our thing at X time!’
There are lots of options out there for people to participate in and they may have to be picky and choosey. In order for people to want to come to your specific thing it may benefit you to really think through things. There are many toggles you can opt for or against.
You likely just want to run the type of event that you’d like to attend. That’s the way it likely should be but what does that actually mean and are you sure you are attracting the type of player you want for the day?
We talk through a few things that hopefully help people organize their thoughts first and then how to set the stage for a great Warhammer experience.
This is just part one of this topic and we’ll be back next week with even more nitty gritty specifics.

This week we had the fist opportunity to subscribe to Warhammer+ and I jumped in both feet first. In this episode we also chat about a 1k Sons army list and ponder – will this army make a splash? The answer is Yes!
Hey all,
Please come check us out this weekend for the NOVA Open Charitable Foundation live stream event. Adam, Tanya and Paul will be jamming 3 hours of non stop enthusiasm as we close out the Summer Raffles and announce a few winners on air.
Warhammer+ is going to hit differently with lots of people but for me I am really digging it. I think it’s ambitious and will grow over time. The content is well produced and a great supplement to my hobby feels. If you have the means and the desire I highly encourage you to go for it – especially if you already had the app.
1k Sons are going to be strong. This list can shoot pretty well and can be devastating in the Psychic phase. This is up for debate but I think Rubrics are going to be the way to go over Terminators but am I wrong?
We’re seeing Games Workshop be willing to breath new life and power into these spin off codexes with fewer model options.
On this show we make a case for many units you may not have ever considered like Chaos Spawn and Forge Fiends. That’s right people, we talk about Forge Fiends.

This is a heavy episode, so be warned…. I say that because we tackle a difficult topic that means different things to different people. I’m anxious to hear what it means to you folks. Is deliberately coming in under what could be your max score fine to do in a Swiss style pairing system?
Hey all,
I fully expect some blow back from this episode and that’s cool. We mention it in the show how much of an opportunity to even have this discussion means to the competitive scene as a whole.
Our whole goal is to just inject a few things into the conversation so others may come to their own conclusion. Ultimately once the dice start getting played and people are going through the motions can you hate the system or the tactic? We don’t claim to solve this but I am interested in knowing what YOU think.
This is not an attempt to shame anyone in any event in any part of the world. The systems, or constructs, as they are allow for this type of stuff and it’s not necessarily a bad thing. As our scene continues to become more mainstream it’s cool to get these things out in the open and for us as a collective group to decide IF we want this to still be the case.
Ultimately it’s a risky move that rarely works out but when it does, does how we feel about it even matter?
We want to encourage more and more people to come out to events when we’re able to do so. Does this type of thing detract from that? The answer, like with most things, is ‘it depends.’ Some people will be put off by things like Submarining but others won’t and I think for an even larger group the overall appeal of the events and the unlikeliness that this sort of things will impact them will be an even bigger draw.

This hobby segment is about just doing it. Grab your brush, get some paint in the minis and don’t be too hard on yourself. You are likely your own worst critic and it’s time to get over that.

Hey all, the books didn’t make into our hands before time of recording so we’re bringing our thoughts and impressions from the stuff we do know from the articles and lore. We’ll get to the rules later. We go over lore, hobby tips and more!
Hey everyone,
Sadly we are subject to the post office on some of these things but we’ll be bringing the tech and tips next week once we have the new stuff in hand. No worries though, we kept the mics hot and did our thing.
We come to the conclusion that Magnus knew exactly what he was doing, for better or for worse.
The Space Wolves got off scott free but we don’t get that deep. Next week… ha!
Sorry we can’t bring you all the deep cuts and new tactics from the new books just yet but we will certainly be back at it next week and thereafter.
I don’t think many of us do.

In the hobby segment we ask if it is easier to paint trim on armor first or second. We pretty much agree that we prefer painting it after the armor panels have been base coated.

We talk a bit about the Admech FAQ we received at the end of last week but mostly we have a healthy discussion about ‘what is core’ and why it seems to be different for several armies. What do you think it is? Is it just a rule that we’re supposed to min/max or is it something in the DNA of the faction itself?
Hey all,
A little bit shorter of an episode this week than we normally do but we’ve had to juggle some schedules and should be back on track next week!
We do a complete theoretical discussion about the nature of CORE as a keyword and as a trait of the lore of the army.
Not every codex seems to be benefiting from this in the same way. We don’t solve any puzzles here but it’s cool to hear the cast’s perspective. Fair warning… There is a little Necron salt in this show but it’s all in good fun.
When you’re making lists do you pay attention to the CORE keyword at all outside of deciding which buffs go where and what Stratagems you can use?
I don’t think many of us do.

There is new stuff GALORE coming down from GW and we talk about it in the first half of the show. The last half, towards the end, we talk about how to be true to your hobby self to prevent ‘hitting the wall’ or burnout.
Hey folks,
We’ve seen a ton of teasers from the Warhammer Community team over the last few days including things from the Horus Heresy line. With all the stuff going missing from the Forge World site I really didn’t expect to see this.
That game is so driven by the setting and fun to hear it is getting some much needed attention. Believe, I am not complaining that its been a bit since it has since we have so much other stuff but I know the folks that play the game really eat that stuff up.
We fawn about the lore and some books for a bit to close out the first half of the podcast. Do you have any favorite parts we’ve missed?
After the break we run down a few of the Ork teasers. We are getting the impression from folks who have the book as part of the limited edition release that the book is good but may not have the power to stand up the Dark Eldar and Ad Mech.
I think that really remains to be seen as more Ork generals need to get this book in their hands and get their minds wrapped around the combos and strats!
