Prado was a paramilitary officer in the CIA's special operations force and was the first CIA officer embedded within the Contra camps in Central America. He also ran counter-terrorism operations, served as Deputy Chief of Station and a founding member of the Bin Laden Task Force, and was Chief of Station in a hostile Muslim country. During the 9/11 attacks, he was Chief of Operations in the CIA's Counterterrorist Center, coordinating special operations with various US agencies and military units.
