Rickson is the third oldest son of Heilo Gracie. As a member of the Gracie family, he has been at the forefront of BJJ, MMA, and professional fighting for most of his life.
He has also battled tragedy—losing his son in 2001 to a drug overdose—and hardship—he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease four years ago—partly with the help of the techniques of “invisible jiu jitsu”.

Steve spent over twenty years as a Special Agent with the U.S. Secret Service and also served in the U.S. Navy, where he received training in cryptology. His career took a pivotal turn when he became a Senior Advisor to the Director of Weapons of Mass Destruction Intelligence at the Department of Homeland Security, focusing on bioterrorism.
