When Saul disobeyed God’s commands, his anointing as God’s servant to lead Israel was
revoked. God directs Samuel to anoint a new king, David. He was the youngest son who
tended to the sheep and was known for his musical talent. Why did God choose him? Because
of his heart – a heart of worship, devoted to God and with unshakable faith in the power of
God. Unlike Saul who was chosen because he was admired by others for his appearance – like
the kings of the nations, David was chosen because of his desire to serve God well.
How does this connect with our lives today?
Scripture: 1 Samuel 16, 1 John 2:20
Pastor Carl kicked off our summer sermon series, "Messy Flawed and Faithful", focusing on the life of King David.
Unity is the way we demonstrate to "the powers" that God is at work in the church
It's also pretty practical - Paul's 4 steps to unity provide a neat but very challenging path to follow to unity (be humble, gentle, patient and bear with one another)
And finally, we don't have to achieve unity - the Holy Spirit does that - all we need to do is maintain unity!
Scripture: Ephesians 4:1-6
David Wiebe, our Spring Guest Speaker, completed his four-part sermon series with us this past Sunday.
David Wiebe paints a picture of the church as "another other" like God himself, in order to reassure us that the church is still the presence of Christ in the world, no matter what terrible news of its failures hit us.
David Wiebe, our Spring Guest Speaker, continued his series with the sermon title, "Building Hope In the Church (Again)".
We pray that as you engage with this message, you would be encouraged in your faith!
The difficulty of the Trinity tells us that rational logic alone won't help us to know and love God - Our practice of contemplation is one key to loving God because it takes us beyond intellect to "non-rational" realms
Trinity sets the template for love - Our practice of revolutionary love is a second key to loving God because doing so helps us learn to love like God, and therefore, God
Scripture: Ephesians 1:15-23 and 1 John 4:13-16
David Wiebe, our Guest Speaker for four weeks, continued his series on Trinity Sunday with the sermon title, "Blessed Trinity: God Loves Everything He has Created...And So Should We!"
We pray that as you engage in the sermon, you would be encouraged in your faith!
Holy Spirit Guidance in a world of uncertainty" with the application points of "steady, hope and perspective"
Scripture: Acts 2:1-4 and 1 Corinthians 15:54-58
David Wiebe, our Guest Speaker over the next four weeks began his series on Pentecost Sunday speaking about Holy Spirit Guidance in a World of Uncertainty.
Speaking with the voice of God requires a lot of care because it is such a powerful tool. Speaking with the voice of God requires us to view ourselves as ambassadors of God, approach others with a posture of humility, and seek to meet the needs of those we are talking with.
Scripture: Acts 17:16-34
In a world filled with social media, fake news, conspiracy theories, and polarizing voices all clamouring for our attention, it seems to be more difficult than ever to hear the voice of God and to discern what is true. In the midst of all the noise, where do we actually hear God’s voice?
The God we have come to know through Jesus Christ is a God who is constantly revealing himself to humanity. He wants to be known. He wants his will for us to be known. He reveals himself to us through nature and history, through divine revelation and the incarnation. He invites us into conversation and relationship with him.
Scripture: Psalm 85:8, Hebrews 1:1-3a, John 16:12-15 NRSV
In a world filled with social media, fake news, conspiracy theories, and polarizing voices all clamouring for our attention, it seems to be more difficult than ever to hear the voice of God and to discern what is true. In the midst of all the noise, where do we actually hear God’s voice?
What does the voice of God sound like? The answer to that lies mostly in familiarity. The more time we spend listening to someone, the more distinct their voice becomes to us. This Sunday we explore how we become familiar to the voice of God in such a way that makes it recognizable to us.
Scripture: John 10:3-5, 27 and 1 John 4:2-3a
In a world filled with social media, fake news, conspiracy theories, and polarizing voices all clamouring for our attention, it seems to be more difficult than ever to hear the voice of God and to discern what is true. In the midst of all the noise, how do we know when we are actually hearing God’s voice?

Scripture: Psalm 85:8-9, Luke 8:11-15
Pastor Carl preaches on the topic of “Living in Hope” as we consider how we carry the good news of the resurrection into our daily lives.
Scripture: Mark 16:9-20
As believers we find our Living Hope in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Our Lenten theme has focused on the events of the last week of Jesus’ life as found in the Gospel of Mark 11-15. We celebrate Jesus overcoming sin and death by His resurrection!
