Fort McMurray’s annual Marathon at the end of September has added a new and exciting feature to the run. “Run for a Reason” is a new addition that includes an exciting new charity fundraising element. Angela Barone with the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo explains what to expect this year, where to sign up, and how you can take part in the “Run for a Reason.”

A more difficult subject to cover, but an important one. We talk with Amber Fort, Executive Director with Pastew Place Detoxification Centre in Fort McMurray about drug addiction. We discuss the difficulties people go through in their journey of healing, the stigma they suffer, how to help, and future fundraising opportunities. Arts Council Wood Buffalo recently received a $5 million grant from the RMWB to purchase the old Landmark Cinema Building downtown to create an arts incubator. Sharon Heading with ACWB joins us to explain what that will mean for the community and how everyone will benefit.
