What the climate movement needs is a commitment to certain principles and ethics. If we don't treat people right, technology will not save us. If we cannot prioritize the well being of people and our nonhuman relatives, then it won't matter how clever we are.

In this episode, I go through the Green Party's Economic Bill of Rights, part of its Green New Deal.

Then I share Hart's seven climate principles, including a commitment to ethics, a commitment to human flourishing and a transition to an economy of care, away from an economy of production.

The Green New Deal has been a big topic of discussion in relation to climate. I used to be a big supporter, but then I found out how solar and wind power actually work and all the ecological devastation they cause, and I changed my mind. I also learned the profound impact that ecosystems and water cycles have on climate and how we could restore our ecosystems and water cycles largely by changing how we do our farming. I've also observed that most fossil fuel use does not contribute to human well being, so why are we continuing to increase our fossil fuel usage by growing the economy and pretending that so-called renewable energy will reduce fossil fuels, which it won't, I've concluded. On this week's Truth to Power, we bring you highlights from the 2023 Kentucky Conservation Committee’s Annual Legislative Summit, which was held in Frankfort on January 22nd. Today we bring you the Keynote Presentation by our newest U.S. representative for Kentucky's 3rd congressional district, Morgan McGarvey, succeeding Rep. John Yarmuth. Rep. McGarvey was formerly a member of the Kentucky Senate representing the 19th district and has been in Washington, DC just a few weeks.

We also hear from Jordan Haedtler, a consultant with the Sunrise Project (https://sunriseproject.org/) on the attack on Socially Responsible Investing that is taking place both nationally and right here in Kentucky.
