This public class, entitled "Towards a 'More Perfect Union': Race, Failure & Social Progress," was hosted by the Louisville Free Public Library in 2022, and features Dr. K. Bailey Thomas, assistant professor of Philosophy at the University of Louisville. Dr. Thomas discusses how our fear of failure ultimately impedes collective efforts in working towards establishing a racially equitable society. Many people find discussions about race to be extremely fraught and divisive, which is usually expressed as a fear of “saying the wrong thing”. This discomfort that arises when thinking and talking about racial inequity and injustice, arises from a collective social failure to be sensitive and attentive to racial privilege and oppression.

My first guest is Ricardo Aguirre, an innovative civil engineer based in Arizona. Whereas, most civil engineers treat water as a nuisance and focus on drainage, Ricardo sees water as a resource and seeks to reduce runoff by sinking water into the ground. He does this by studying nature and also by using livestock to enhance the quality of the soil.

My second guest is Rodger Savory, an ecologist and land management consultant with a focus on something called Holistic Management. Rodger explains the origins of Holistic Management, and explains how to make good management decisions amid a complex and changing environment.

In the final segment, I tell the untold story of how water could cool our climate, if we would only restore the ecosystems and the plant matter through which water flows. Evaporative Cooling is a common experience. We experience the cooling effect of evaporating water when we step out of the shower or the swimming pool. When water evaporates, it has a tremendous cooling effect, and we COULD bring the power of evaporative cooling to bear on our desire to cool earth's climate.

Executive Summary:

According to a Feb. 8 article by legendary reporter Seymour Hersh, President Biden ordered the destruction of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which was destroyed by a series of explosions that occurred on Sept. 22.

If these allegations are true, then it represents an unconstitutional act, a war crime and an act of war against another nuclear armed power, and as such endangers all human life.

The Nord Stream 2 was to transport natural gas from Russia to Germany via the Baltic Sea, and was the product of billions of dollars of investment on the part of both Russians and Germans.

Statement from National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan on UN Vote To Support Peace in Ukraine

Jan. 23, 2023.

Nearly one year after Russia launched its brutal and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, 141 countries — from every continent and every corner of the world — issued a powerful call for a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace in Ukraine in line with the principles of the UN Charter. By overwhelmingly voting in favor of the UN General Assembly resolution today, these nations stood firmly in support of the rules-based international order, and spoke with one voice to demand Russia’s full, immediate, and unconditional withdrawal from all of Ukraine’s territory. A year into this conflict, the international community remains steadfast in upholding our shared values, including the principles of sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity that are the foundation of the UN Charter, and accountability for violations of international law, including Russia’s war of aggression. Today’s vote was an overwhelming demonstration of support for Ukraine — and a clear defense or (sic) freedom for people everywhere.
