It’s Episode 69 of Foul Territory: A Baseball Podcast, and hosts Jed Rigney and Jon Sumple have fun with the ol’ soixante neuf throughout the episode. Bronson Arroyo, who wore 69 with the Pirates in 2000-02, gets the nod as the episode honoree. Speaking of 69, just 10 players have worn the number on the field in MLB history, and Arroyo was the only one to wear it more than one season. Of the 10 players, five played with the Pirates, who, apparently, are quite fascinated by the number.

This week’s Headlines focus on Robert Osuna’s 75-game suspension, Hanley Ramirez being connected than not being connected to a federal criminal investigation, the Cardinals reaching 10,000 wins in NL regular season games (yawn), Edwin Jackson joining the A’s as his record-tying 13th MLB team, the Rangers expressing that Adrian Beltre is indeed available for trade, the Dodgers hitting seven solo home runs against the Mets, top draft pick Casey Mize getting a $7.5 million signing bonus, Oregon State pitching phenom (and sex offender) Luke Heimlich drawing interest from the Royals after not getting drafted, Peter Moylan losing his first game since Chipper Jones was playing, Brewers demoting Domingo Santana in favor of Brad Miller, the Padres riding through San Francisco on a double-decker bus during Pride Weekend, Phillie Phanatic sending a fan to the hospital following a hot dog cannon mishap, and, possibly the weirdest story of the season: a body being discovered in a walk-in beer cooler at the Braves’ SunTrust Park.

This week’s Starting Nine honors the World Cup with nine players with soccer player names. And, after pushing it off for several episodes, the aforementioned Around the Horn takes a look at every team’s MLB trade deadline objectives, as Jed sees it. And he sees it with clarity.
