God covers us, and in every season of your life He has a covering
for you.
Genesis 3:21 “Also for Adam and his wife the LORD God made
tunics of skin, and clothed them.”
I Samuel 16:21-22 & 18:1-2; Saul asks to be Davidʼs covering.
1. Seek a godly covering in every season of your life.
I Samuel 19:18 “So David fled and escaped, and went to Samuel
at Ramah”
I Samuel 20:1
2. Great friendship is a gift of God but it cannot cover all
wounds.
I Samuel 20:42 “Then Jonathan said to David, “Go in peace”
3. Godʼs house gives food for a hungry soul but it cannot
cover sin.
1 Samuel 21:3 “Now therefore, what have you on hand?”
4. God brings us to a place of emptiness to give us His
covering.
1 Samuel 22:1 “David therefore departed from there and escaped
to the cave of Adullam”

Ruth 1:14-17
1. Making a covenant of covering is the start of lifelong change.
vs. 16 “And your God, my God…The Lord do so to me, and more
also, If anything but death parts you and me”
Ruth 2:11-12
2. God will gladly accept anyone who comes under His covering.
vs. 12 “under whose wings you have come for refuge”
Ruth had to be redeemed by Boaz. The unclean (Ruth the Moabite)
had to be redeemed by Boaz (the clean). Ex 13:12
Ruth 3:1
3. Your Covering is seeking an even greater covering for you.
vs. 1 “Shall I not seek security for you, that it may be well with you?”
Ruth 4:11-12
4. Your spiritual offspring/children will be determined by your covering.
vs. 11-12 “and may you prosper in Ephrathah and be famous in
Bethlehem… because of the offspring which the LORD will give you
from this young woman.”

1. Every person must individually learn how God covers them.
Vs. 12 “which I have written, that you may teach them”
Godʼs covering:
The Family covering: Eph. 6
Spiritual and Civic covering: Romans 13 & Titus 2
The Word of God covers us: Rev 14:6
He Himself covers us: 2 Corinthians 5:21
I Timothy 4:6,15-16

2. Living under Godʼs covering takes deliberate action.
Vs. 13 “So Moses arose…and Moses went up to the mountain”
3. Godʼs covering is a place of great rest.
Vs. 16 “Now the glory of the Lord rested…and the cloud covered it
six days”
Communion with God is always worth waiting for.

1. The enemy of generosity is selfishness.
Vs. 6 “not that he cared for the poor but because he was a

2. Extravagant generosity comes from desire not amount.

Three types on giving in the Bible:
Tithes: (means 10%)
Offerings: (above the tithe)
Alms: Poorest of the poor; a special box was used for alms in
Jesusʼ day in the temple
3. The reward of generosity is eternal.

1. The first must be sacrificed or redeemed.
Vs. 12 “every firstborn…shall be the Lordʼs”

2. The first fruits must be offered.
Proverbs 3:9 “Honor the LORD with your possessions, And with the
firstfruits of all your increase”
Ex. 23:19 “The first of the firstfruits of your land you shall bring into
the house of the LORD your God.”
The Bible does not use the word “give” when it talks about the tithe.
It uses the word “bring”.

3. The tithe reminds us of Godʼs saving grace.
Ex. 13 “the LORD brought us out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage
