A quick note about the Marine Corps birthday and Veterans Day.
I jump up on the soap box quick about  hunting/fishing and conservation. The importance of hunting and fishing to conservation is undeniable. Benefits one gets from being in the outdoors are also undeniable.  Yet numbers are on the decline. Whether you pick up a bow, rifle, shotgun or rod and reel. We have to start educating our youth on all the benefits of the outdoors and how hunting/fishing, camping, the outdoors and conservation are all connected.

October 9th 1919 the Cincinatti Reds beat the Chicago White Sox in game 8 of the World Series. What follows next is an amazing part of professional sports in US History. If you get a chance, do some reading about this event.

Constitution Day and "I am an American Day" or Citizenship Day are supposed to be observed in schools. We hope they are, but we also hope this isn't being used as a replacment for Civics as whole.  Ask your kids this week what they learned about the Constitution and what it means to be an American.
