Founded and Forged

Some thoughts on Memorial Day before you run off to grab a hot dog.

Jim heads back to his hometown in Marshalltown, IA and finally gets a chance to eat at The Flying Elbow.
After a weekend of moving engine blocks, transmissions, a Marty Moose shot glass and having some interesting conversations with his brother. Here's just a couple of quick things to think about as we break out the cap and gowns and graduates set off for their futures.

Addie takes a quick look at the history of Mother's Day.

A quick look at the invention of Coke and some thoughts on childhood obesity.

Do you remember May Day, and making May Baskets? Did you know there's a darker side to May 1st in American History?

Our first 5 Minute Monday. We thought a good place to start is where the name "America" came from.  We just scratch the surface on this. You might say just the wave tops, but it is worth a quick search to learn a little more. Jim and Jess sit down with Chad and Kristi Dockter for a conversation about their path and where they are today. Together they have taken risks in business and in life and supported each other every step of the way.

Chad is a founding partner in Southwest Eye Care and former City Council member for the city of Chaska, MN. Together they are part owners of Heggies frozen pizza located in Milaca, MN.

Kristi is the owner of Hidden Treasure Soaps, a business she built out of a hobby and is continuing to grow. Listening to how she started and built her business is inspiring for anyone considering a small start-up.

In recent years they were pulled in a direction that led them to look inward and trust their faith. It starts with a simple gesture of giving away extra Christmas decorations.

We hope you enjoy our conversation with them as much as we did! You will find pieces of wisdom and inspiration to help you take your next step towards something you may be considering.

You can find more about their ventures by visiting them.
