The early church embodied such a compelling community that their number was added to daily. They often gathered around tables for worship and their culture reflected their gathering space. Rather than ministry taking place from the stage down to the pews, there was horizontal ministry from across the table. These next few weeks, we will discuss the defining characteristics of the early church and how today, we can recapture the "table culture."

God created the Earth in 6 days and on the 7th day He rested. He set the example for His creation and has commanded us to keep the sabbath day holy. Not only should this be a regular rhythm of our weekly lives, but at times we need to take a special rest from a very busy season of hard work. Sometimes you just need to be in His presence and receive from Him as you catch your breath. Join us January 7th for our "Breathe" gathering where we will have a time of food and fellowship followed by a simple acoustic set of worship and a short message. "For God so loved the world that He gave..." the greatest gift ever given. The gift of the Father's love through His only Son, born in a manger. When we take a closer look at Christmas, we are reminded of the gift of God's Love that has the power to transform even the hardest of hearts.

When the angels declared "Peace on earth and goodwill toward men" they were not declaring earthly peace, but a peace between God and man to those who trust in the Savior. When we take a closer look at Christmas we are reminded of the Power, Love, and Forgiveness of God that brings us peace in every situation.

It's natural to rejoice when something wonderful happens, but the gospel of Luke unveils a powerful secret about rejoicing in the Christmas story. Others wondered at the miraculous birth, but the bible says that Mary "treasured" these things in her heart and thought about them often. No doubt she would return to these wonderful memories during the most difficult times in her life. When the grinch of bitterness and sorrow rises up within, we overcome by rejoicing in the good times and the bad!

When we allow the trials of this world to take our attention away from God, we lose sight of the hope Christmas was meant to remind us of. The grinch of despair begins to roam around in our mind unchallenged, as he seeks to steal away the gift of hope that comes through the Holy Spirit. Today we seek to take back and strengthen our grip on the gift of hope.

Today as we prepare to be the church by going outside the four walls of the church, we learn four ways to give that will uncork the fountain of life within.

Scripture offers a direct correlation between righteousness and generosity. Simply put, God doesn't bless selfishness, but He does bless generosity. Often that blessing is in direct proportion to the level of our generosity. When we sow generously, we will reap a generous harvest. Sometimes it's an extravagant gift that can uncork the fountain of multiplication within us.

God used a starving widow to feed Elijah. Because she served out of her need, the blessing was multiplied and her needs were met as well. Today we learn 5 ways that serving leads to multiplication.
