  • Why Your Next "Employee" Will Be a Personalized AI.

AI Agents will change your life by 2027. AI is no longer just a chatbot; it’s becoming an autonomous workforce. AI pioneer Dr. Craig Kaplan reveals why "communities of agents" are about to trigger the biggest productivity explosion in history—and why you must personalize them before big tech does it for you.

    Key Highlights:

    • The "Grok Heavy" Secret: Why a group of AI agents is 10x smarter than any single model.

    • The 2027 Deadline: Why semi-autonomous reasoning systems are closer than you think.

    • Personalized Ethics: How to build an AI that reflects your values, not just a "black box" algorithm.

    • Humanity's Last Exam: The ultimate test that AI is finally starting to pass.

  • Why Motivation is a Lie (And What to Use Instead)

Forget the 'magical muse.' Tech veteran Laudon Williams (Microsoft, Amazon, Disney) reveals why discipline—not inspiration—is the real secret to 30 years of high-level creativity.

    In this clip, we discuss:

-The 3:30 AM routine that fuels a CEO’s focus.

-Why motivation and inspiration are "fickle mistresses."

-"Morning Triage": How to clear your head before the world wakes up.

-The genetic reality of sleep and how to manage a rigorous routine.

  • Like Strapping a Toddler to Your Back: Life in the 75th Ranger Regiment

After Ranger Assessment and Selection, the regiment handed David Porter a tripod-mounted machine gun and told him to carry it across the mountains of Afghanistan. He calls it "strapping a toddler to your back."

David — Charlie Company, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment — walks through what it actually takes to stay in the Rangers: deployments, Ranger School, the tab, the scroll, and why this small unit punches so far above its weight.

In this 10-minute conversation, David shares:

    • Honor graduate of selection — and his theory on why the cadre picked him

    • Charlie Co 3/75: how battalions, companies, and platoons actually break down

    • Carrying the M240 across Afghan mountains on top of standard ruck weight

    • Six months after selection to first firefight — the wartime tempo of 2008-09

    • Ranger School: the Army's premier leadership school in 3 punishing phases

    • Why every single one of the 3,500 Rangers has to earn the tab — cooks included

  • 4 Cubic Kilometers of Lava in One Year and the Eruption That Killed a Fifth of Iceland

The Carrizozo lava flow in New Mexico — the longest lava flow in the continental United States at 75 kilometers — likely erupted in about a year. The Laki eruption in Iceland in 1773 put out 18 cubic kilometers of material in 18 months and killed roughly 20% of Iceland's population through famine and fluoride poisoning.

Dr. Jeffrey Zurek is a geophysicist who researches the Rio Grande Rift and the Carrizozo lava flow, and hosts the award-winning science podcast ⁨@WhimsicalWavelengths .

In this 10-minute conversation, Jeffrey shares:

    • The Soviet-era Kola Superdeep Borehole — still the world record for deepest drill hole, estimated at over 10 kilometers, drilled straight through a craton — and why Jeffrey has never personally worked with that data

    • How the idea for Whimsical Wavelets started: during his postdoc hustle he conceived "Eggheads Consulting," a service selling academic expertise to Hollywood North, assembled a Rolodex of scientists from multiple disciplines, got an agent — who then tried to steal the idea — and watched the whole thing collapse when the pandemic hit

    • Why he finally launched the podcast: building an academic research portfolio for professor applications crystallized the stories he wanted to tell, but he realized the material would only run 8 episodes, so it sat on a hook for years until a stable job made it viable

    • The Rio Grande Rift geology: the rift is slowly unzippering North America, erupts roughly every 6,000 years on average, and hosts the Socorro magma body — the largest known magma body in the United States — which is actively inflating and producing measurable surface deformation

    • The Carrizozo lava flow's scale: 75 kilometers long, 4-plus cubic kilometers of material, compared to Pu'u O'o which erupted for 36 to 38 years starting in 1986 and produced 3.3 cubic kilometers — meaning Carrizozo likely exceeded that output in roughly one year

    • The 1773 Laki eruption in Iceland: 18 cubic kilometers in 18 months, 80 to 90 percent of all livestock on Iceland dead from fluoride poisoning, famine killing approximately 20 percent of Iceland's population, and volcanic pollution causing tens of thousands of excess deaths across Europe that summer

Explore the intersection of geophysics and AI with Dr. Jeffrey Zurich. Learn how modern technology changes fieldwork on volcanoes.
Dr. Jeffrey Zurek ( ⁨@WhimsicalWavelengths⁩  ) a seasoned geophysicist and volcanologist, joins us to discuss his career path and the technical aspects of his work. We examine how gravity measurements provide critical data for understanding volcanic structures and how AI tools are reshaping data analysis in the field. This conversation offers a clear look at the practical application of these technologies in real-world geological studies.
Whether you are a student of earth sciences or interested in how AI in science operates, this discussion bridges the gap between academic theory and active fieldwork. We break down the challenges of collecting data in extreme environments and the evolving role of geophysics in predicting geological activity. By the end, you will have a better grasp of the tools used by modern researchers to monitor volcanic regions.

  • Don't Pick a Mentor for What They Know. Pick One for Who They Are. — Limitless Society CEO Tiffanie Janowitz

Most people pick a mentor by skill set. Tiffanie Janowitz picks differently.

For her, the question isn't "what can you teach me?" It's "do I respect the life you're living?" The Limitless founder breaks down the mentor framework that's actually shaped her career — and why alignment beats expertise every time.

In this 10-minute conversation, Tiffanie shares:

    • Why she doesn't look for a specific "thing" in a mentor

    • The non-negotiable: feeling alignment with the person, not just their resume

    • Respecting the life they're actually living, not just their public title

    • Why she needs to respect the human being as a whole person

    • How this filter has saved her from bad mentor matches

    • The compounding effect of choosing mentors this way over a full career

  • The Birth of AI: Inside the Carnegie Mellon Van - - Dr. Craig Kaplan

A van stuffed floor-to-ceiling with IBM 286 computers, all the seats ripped out, video cameras bolted on. Top speed: a couple inches an hour. Stop. Stare at a leaf. Ponder for 30 minutes whether it's a leaf or a person. Move another inch.

That was Carnegie Mellon's self-driving car in the 1980s. Craig Kaplan used to jog past it. The exact same algorithms running on today's hardware? 180 miles an hour.

In this 10-minute conversation, Craig shares:

    • Why applying to undergrad was harder than getting into Carnegie Mellon grad school

    • Choosing Carnegie Mellon to work with Herbert Simon — the inventor of AI

    • AI in the 1980s as a "tiny little niche only a few really geeky people knew about"

    • DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis on why all problems collapse into one: build intelligence

    • The 1980s CMU van with 286 PCs that drove 2 inches an hour — same algorithms, today, would hit 180 mph

    • Geoff Hinton, the "godfather of AI," and the office mate who spent 5 years teaching a network the letter A

    • Craig's central claim: "we have company now — we created entities almost as smart as us"
