Tonight’s guest is Ronald MacCloskey! One could describe Ronald as a Renaissance man- he has done so many great things in his career that in the time we had to talk it seemed as if we had just scratched the surface. He has written and produced a movie about Boris Karloff- 2021’s Boris Karloff: The Man Behind The Monster, and will be released on video on October 18, 2022. He will be speaking and screening this film at the Black Bear Film Festival on October 14. He has a documentary series coming to Jewish Life Television called “Remembering the Catskills” which debuts on October 29th  He is also the founder of AddamsFest- a festival that honors Charles Addams and The Addams Family, in Westfield NJ, now in its 5th year. We had a great time talking about these things and many others.

Please welcome to the show- Dwight Weems! If you are from Baltimore and you've been to a wedding, bull roast, or corporate gala, or ever been to the Dundalk Heritage Fair, I am sure you've seen Dwight singing in his band "Gazze" (who is celebrating 50 years of making music this year!! We had a great time, talking about the hundreds of weddings and events he has performed at over the years, as well as his time at WBFF Channel 45 in Baltimore. He was at WBFF from day one, and worked there producing and directing Captain Chesapeake, Ghost Host, and many classic Baltimore commercials like "Mr. Ray's Hair Weave". We also discussed growing up in Dundalk and having family working "down the point", Dundalk Music, and his Mercy Mercy Me commercial for Baltimore's Mercy Hospital. We had a a lot of fun.

The Fowl Players of Perryville will be returning to the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad on September 10, October 8, and October 29, and at 5th Company Brewing on October 21, November 12, and December 10. Please welcome Chris Armstrong!! Chris Armstrong was a Wide Receiver- Slotback who had a career that lasted nearly a decade in the Canadian Football League and spent two seasons playing in Baltimore with the Baltimore CFL Colts/Football Club/CFLs/Stallions.
You can also follow us on YouTube! Please hit the SUBSCRIBE button and the LIKE button and tell all of your friends! You can also find the audio version of Fowl Players Radio on most Podcast Platforms- please follow us and give us a fair, honest review!

In 1984 Robert Irsay tore the heart out of the City of Baltimore by taking our beloved Colts away in the middle of the night and relocating them to Indianapolis. In 1985 Baltimore briefly enjoyed a season of USFL Football with the Baltimore Stars franchise that relocated there from Philadelphia. In 1992 Baltimore hosted a pre season game between the Miami Dolphins and New Orleans Saints to let the NFL know that they were still a football town. Then, in 1994, professional football returned to Baltimore, by way of the Canadian football league. The CFL was expanding and granting franchises in the United States, and a franchise was awarded to Baltimore. Though this franchise was short lived, (two seasons) it made two trips to the Grey Cup, winning the last one in 1995 and paving the way for the NFL to return. For those who followed the Stallions (the final name after several name changes) these two years were ones that will never be forgotten. Chris Armstrong, who was a star receiver on the Stallions (honored as an All-Star and All CFL player in 1994 and was a member of the Grey Cup Championship Team in 1995) joins us to reminisce about his teammates, his coaches, the journey to the Grey Cup, and much more! Chris Armstrong is currently coaching Varsity Football at Loch Raven High School in Baltimore County, Maryland.

The Fowl Players of Perryville will be returning to the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad on September 10, October 8, and October 29. for more information, please see www.wmsr.com or www.fowlplayersofperryville.com.

They call the city I grew up around "Small-timore" because after a while. you find that everyone really does know each other eventually.....
I recently ran into an old friend from the neighborhood, Johnny Laing! We were catching up on Facebook, and we discovered that Johnny is with Fatherson Productions, and just released a movie called "The Baltimore Bomb". When I was a boy back in the mid-1970's, my grandparents used to take my aunt and I to Assateague Island every summer for a week or two for vacation. It was a long, hot ride down Route 50, much of which at the time was only two lanes. To keep me from being a typical kid and barraging my grandparents with "Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" my grandparents used to stop at the store and get me comic books to read in the car to keep me occupied. These comics were Superboy, Superman, and Archie and Little Archie. Recently, I met Paul Castiglia, who is a comic book writer and editor known for his work for Archie Comics, Archie's Weird Mysteries, Archie Americana Series, Little Archie, Looney Tunes Magazine, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Tex Avery Comics, the DC Comics series Showcase, Sonic The Hedgehog, Cracked Magazine, and others.

We had a great talk about those comic books, as well as some interesting facts behind the song "Sugar Sugar", the twangy typical 60's rock and roll piped into sitcoms whenever there's and episode when one of the characters puts together a band (think Opie on Andy Griffith or Chip on "My Three Sons" or "The Mosquitoes" on Gilligan's Island) , "Sea Monkeys" and the gimmicky rip-off offers in the back of comic books, and disturbing puppets from children's television shows.
