The third of the series exploring what foxes are up to in each month of the year. A vulpine calendar of events, if you will.
MARCH - During this month, the new generation of foxes will be born. The vixen will be almost exclusively in the fox den and will remain with the cubs for their first two weeks. The male foxes need to spring into action and provide all the food to the vixen as she will need to consume enough calories to ensure she produces enough milk. How many extra mice does the vixen need to consume during this time? What animal are newborn fox cubs often mistaken for?
Listen to this episode to hear about what's going on in March in the world of urban foxes and see if it relates to what you've been observing in your garden this month.
