Dear Foreign Policy Enthusiasts,
The Opportunity and Development Division alongside the Public Relations Division of FPCI Chapter UI proudly presents the eighth episode of FPCI Chapter UI Podcast: Foreign Affairs on Air #8, titled "Lingua Franca : Bridge or Barrier Between Countries Around The World?".
This episode will be hosted by Shoofi Izzati and Hirzan Syarief as Co-Host. We are going to have Ms. Abellia Anggi Wardani, Ph.D. as our guest speakers in this podcast.
"In this world, we, humans, have a very diverse and complex way of life. We can see this through the lens of our culture, such as traditions, beliefs, cuisine, and even the closest to us—language. There are more than 7.000 languages in this world. But, with this diversity, how could countries around the world understand each other? Lingua franca might be the answer. Lingua franca is a language used for communication between people who have different native languages. Until today, English has been the most popular lingua franca."
"We can see this occurrence happen in many international institutions, such as the UN, APEC, and even ASEAN. However, unlike the others, the European Union has 24 official languages to communicate with each other. So, how exactly does lingua franca play a role in this multilingual world?"
Find out the answer through this episode!
Thank you for your attention.
