When we were getting ready to build our new church, we wanted to give away a portion of our new church to the poor. We partnered with Habitat for Humanity and built a house for the poor before we built our new house for the church.

St Anne is the Patroness of the Archdiocese of Detroit. We are celebrating the memorial of Sts Joachim and Anne, the grandparents of Jesus. 

Ben Sirach recalls those countless good people who have lived down through the ages but of whom nothing is known and everything forgotten. Generation after generation, they brought children into the world and handed on their traditions and will continue to do so.

In the old Catholic Douay-Rheims Bible translation, the landowner says to them, “Suffer the weeds to grow with the wheat.” Let them grow together. The root word in the Greek that Jesus uses is the word for forgiveness.
