Staticc is committed to highlighting useful tools to help creatives experiencing hardship during the #COVID19 pandemic. Johnnie sat down with Michael Rios of the website Queerantine.Me to discuss the inspiration behind the site, and how it’s helping LGBTQ service industry professionals in Philadelphia and beyond. On this episode of Seeing Sounds, I am taking a detour from creativity and having a discussion with Dr. Leo Moore* about the impact of COVID-19 on our everyday lives. For this show we define COVID-19, why it's so important to follow the guidelines provided to prevent it and what music Dr. Moore is listening to to get him through this moment.
Dr. Moore is the Medical Director for Clinic Services at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. In this role, he oversees 9 public health centers throughout the county that specialize in HIV prevention, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Tuberculosis, and Refugee Health.
*The views of Dr. Moore expressed here do not represent those of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.

In February, 2020, I traveled to one of my favorite cities - Detroit. I sat down with three black gay men living there to ask them questions about their lives and experiences.
On this episode of Seeing Sounds, I am presenting these Detroit Stories. This one features Damon Percy aka Magic of the House of Charles. This podcast includes a special story about Magic's friend Lance.
Special thanks to LGBT Detroit for allowing me to use the space there, and Black Bear Brotherhood of Detroit for their support.

On this show I have two conversations. Following the suicide of 15-year-old Nigel Shelby, I was heartbroken. I invited Dr. D. Dionne Bates to the show. Dr. Bates and I discuss ways that we can recognize when our loved ones need us, and she offers tips to individuals listening to the show who are having challenges.
For my second conversation I chat with Shawn J. Moore. During that discussion Shawn and I discuss his history growing up as the youngest of four boys in Baltimore, and his podcast The Mindful Rebel.

During a recent tour, Alicia Keys would lock cell phones at concerts, except for a few specific people, and in 2016, Apple announced that it has patented technology that could disable an iPhone camera if a specific infrared signal is detected. Childish Gambino has also been urging his fans to put their phones away at shows.
How can you capture better cell phone video at concerts? Listen or watch and learn.

On this episode of Seeing Sounds we welcome humorist and copywriter Rita Nicole Leslie. Rita is reading her piece Stable Is For Horses.
Rita Nicole Leslie is an Atlanta native, copywriter, humorist, co-producer/host of Bleux Stockings Society, a monthly reading series catered toward marginalized individuals: WOC/POC, LGBTQIA, non-binary folks and cis women. Her pronouns are, she/her.
She loves writing, fashion and laughing, anything in groups of three really. She also puts periods at the end of her "haha's" and "lol's" because her joy is definitive and never overstays its welcome.

There’s been a revolving thought since rewatching Barry Jenkins’ Moonlight that I knew I’d need to get out, at some point. Here's that thought.
