1Co 1, 27b-30   Lo débil del mundo lo ha escogido Dios para humillar el poder. Aún más: ha escogido la gente baja del mundo, lo despreciable, lo que no cuenta, para anular a lo que cuenta; de modo que nadie pueda gloriarse en presencia del Señor. Por él vosotros sois en Cristo Jesús, en este Cristo que Dios ha hecho para nosotros sabiduría, justicia, santificación y redención.

Tuesday Lauds Morning Prayer 5th Week Lent Season

Zechariah 12:10-11    Over the House of David and the citizens of Jerusalem, I will pour out a spirit of kindness and prayer. They will look on the one whom they have pierced; they will mourn for him as for an only son, and weep for him as people weep for a first-born child. When that day comes, there will be a great mourning in Judah.

Praise is fitting for loyal hearts.

Rejoice in the Lord, you just:

it is good for the upright to praise him.

Proclaim the Lord on the lyre,

and play his song on the ten-stringed harp.

Sing a new song to the Lord,

sing out your cries of triumph,

for the word of the Lord is truly just,

and all his actions are faithful.

The Lord loves justice and right judgment;

the earth is full of his loving-kindness.

By the Lord’s word the heavens were made,

and all their array by the breath of his mouth.

He gathered the seas as if in a bag,

he stored up the depths in his treasury.

Let every land fear the Lord,

let all the world be awed at his presence.

For he spoke, and they came into being;

he commanded, and they were made.

The Lord confounds the counsel of the nations

and throws the thoughts of the peoples into confusion.

But the Lord’s own counsel stands firm forever,

his thoughts last for all generations.

Happy the nation whose lord is God,

the people he has chosen as his inheritance.

The Lord looks down from the heavens

and sees all the children of men.

From his dwelling place, he looks

upon all who inhabit the earth.

He molded each one of their hearts,

he understands all that they do.

The king will not be saved by his forces;

the abundance of his strength will not set the strong man free.

Do not trust a horse to save you,

whatever its swiftness and strength.

For see, the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him,

upon those who trust in his mercy,

hoping he will save their souls from death

and their bodies from hunger.

Our souls praise the Lord,

for he is our help and our protector,

for our hearts rejoice in him,

and we trust in his holy name.

Lord, show us your loving-kindness,

just as we put our hope in you.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son

and to the Holy Spirit,

as it was in the beginning,

is now, and ever shall be,

Jeremiah 11:19-20    I was like a trustful lamb being led to the slaughterhouse, not knowing the schemes they were plotting against me, ‘Let us destroy the tree in its strength, let us cut him off from the land of the living, so that his name may be quickly forgotten!’ But you, Lord of Hosts, who pronounce a just sentence, who probe the loins and heart, let me see the vengeance you will take on them, for I have committed my cause to you.

It is you whom I invoke, O Lord. In the morning you hear me.

Let my words come to your ears, O Lord:

hear my sighs.

Listen to the voice of my crying,

my King and my God.

As I make my prayer to you,

Lord, listen to my voice in the morning;

in the morning I will stand before you and await you.

You are not a God who loves evil.

The wicked cannot stay near you,

the unjust cannot remain in your presence.

You hate all who do evil –

you destroy all who speak falsehood –

the Lord abominates the bloody and deceitful man.

But in the abundance of your mercy you will admit me to your house:

I will worship you in your holy temple, with fear and reverence.

Lord, guide me in your justice, protect me from my enemies:

let me see the path I must follow.

For there is no truth in their mouth – their heart is a bottomless pit –

their throat is a wide-open grave – their tongue seduces.

Punish them, Lord,

and let their own plans destroy them.

On account of their crimes, thrust them from your presence;

for they are rebels against you.

Let all who hope in you rejoice, a triumph forever.

Hch 13, 26-30a   Hermanos, a vosotros envía Dios este mensaje de salvación. Los habitantes de Jerusalén y sus jefes no reconocieron a Jesús, pero, al condenarlo a muerte, dieron cumplimiento a las palabras de los profetas que se leen cada sábado. Y, a pesar de que no encontraron en él causa alguna digna de muerte, pidieron a Pilato que lo hiciera morir. Una vez que cumplieron todo lo que de él estaba escrito, lo bajaron de la cruz y lo depositaron en un sepulcro. Pero Dios lo resucitó de entre los muertos.

Leviticus 23:4-7   These are the Lord’s solemn festivals, the sacred assemblies to which you are to summon the sons of Israel on the appointed day. The fourteenth day of the first month, between the two evenings, is the Passover of the Lord; and the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of Unleavened Bread for the Lord. For seven days you shall eat bread without leaven. On the first day, you are to hold a sacred assembly; you must do no heavy work.

You, my God, have become my help.

O God, you are my God, I watch for you from the dawn.

My soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you.

I came to your sanctuary,

as one in a parched and waterless land,

so that I could see your might and your glory.

My lips will praise you, for your mercy is better than life itself.

Thus I will bless you throughout my life,

and raise my hands in prayer to your name;

my soul will be filled as if by rich food,

and my mouth will sing your praises and rejoice.

I will remember you as I lie in bed,

I will think of you in the morning,

for you have been my helper,

Isaiah 1:16-18    Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean. Take your wrong-doing out of my sight. Cease doing evil. Learn to do good, search for justice, help the oppressed, be just to the orphan, and plead for the widow. Come now, let us talk this over, says the Lord. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.

Ezekiel 36

I will give you a new heart, and put a new spirit in you.

I will take you from among the Gentiles,

I will bring you together from all the earth,

I will lead you into your own land.

I will pour clean water on you,

and you will be cleansed from your filth:

from all your worship of idols, I will cleanse you.

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you.

I will take the stone heart from your breast and put a heart of flesh in its place.

I will put my spirit among you

so that you will walk in the paths of my law,

keep my judgments, and obey them.

St 5, 16. 19-20   Confesaos mutuamente vuestros pecados y rogad unos por otros, para alcanzar vuestra curación, pues la oración ferviente del justo tiene gran eficacia. Hermanos, si alguno de entre vosotros se desvía de la verdad y otro logra convertirlo, sepa que quien convierte a un pecador de su camino equivocado salvará su alma de la muerte y cubrirá la multitud de sus pecados.

Friday Lauds Morning Prayer 4th Week Lent Season

Isaiah 53:11-12    By his sufferings shall my servant justify many, taking their faults on himself. Hence I will grant whole hordes for his tribute, he shall divide the spoil with the mighty, for surrendering himself to death and letting himself be taken for a sinner, while he was bearing the faults of many and praying all the time for sinners.

Tobit 13

Rejoice, O Jerusalem, since through you all men will be gathered together to the Lord.

Bless the Lord, his chosen ones: all of you, praise his greatness.

Keep feast days of rejoicing and proclaim his holy name.

Jerusalem, the holy city: he will punish you for what you have done.

Thank the Lord for his good deeds, and bless the eternal king,

so that in you, once more, with gladness, your tabernacle may be built,

so that in you he may make all exiles rejoice,

so that in you he may care for the distressed

for all ages, forever.

Your bright light will shine out to the ends of the earth:

many nations will come to you from afar.

From the farthest corners of the world, they will come to your holy name

carrying gifts in their hands for the King of heaven.

Generation on generation, they will proclaim their joy

and the name of the chosen city will endure forever.

So rejoice and be glad among the children of the just,

for they will be brought together and bless the eternal Lord.

Happy are those who love you, fortunate those who rejoice in your peace.

My soul, bless the Lord, the great King,

for in Jerusalem his house will be built,
