Señor, tú que con razón eres llamado luz indeficiente, ilumina nuestro espíritu, en esta hora vespertina, y dígnate perdonar benignamente nuestras faltas. Por nuestro Señor Jesucristo, tu Hijo, que vive y reina contigo en la unidad del Espíritu Santo y es Dios, por los siglos de los siglos.

King of heaven and earth, Lord God, rule over our hearts and bodies this day. Sanctify us, and guide our every thought, word, and deed

according to the commandments of your law, so that now and forever

your grace may free and save us.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.

Monday, June 14th-2021 Get to know Saint Basil the Great, Bishop, and Doctor

Basil believed the Church must remain independent of the emperor and boldly defended the Church. He preached morning and evening to large crowds. When a famine struck, he gave his money to people who were poor. He organized a soup kitchen and served the people himself. Basil even built a town, which included a church, a hospital, and a guesthouse.

San Basilio nació en Cesarea de Capodocia el año 330. Estudió en Constantinopla y en Atenas, con Juliano el Apóstata y Gregorio Nacianceno. Sobresalió por su gran cultura y virtud entre todos sus compañeros. Se distinguió por su celo apostólico, por sus numerosos escritos, por su oratoria arrebatadora, por su santidad, que apreciaban tanto cristianos, como judíos y paganos.

Sunday, June 13th-2021 Know Saint Anthony of Padua, Doctor of the Church and Miracle-Worker

France, Italy, and Sicily heard his voice and saw his miracles, whose numbers can scarcely be counted. A crowd to which he was preaching outdoors one day when the church was too small to hold all who came to hear him, amidst thunder and lightning felt not one drop of water fall upon them, while all around them the rain poured down. And men's hearts turned to God!
