1 Corinthians 11:23–26 — For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

The Apostle Paul uses the communion table as a physical representation of what happens to us in Christ. The church in Corinth was going through so much...all you have to do is a quick skim of the book to see that there were divisions, arguments, and disputes. And Paul uses the table to remind them, and us, that it is the Lord's Table that brings us together.

It's incredible when families come together to eat, but we all know that there are so many dynamics within families that sometimes make family meals a little awkward. Join us this Sunday as we discuss the importance and value of coming together to share communion.

Mark 9:27 — But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up.

This week, we continue our series looking at the love of God (with a little throwback to our Healer series).

The word describing the boy standing up is resurrection language. The healing that took place here was a precursor to Christ's own resurrection, a preview of what was to come.

When healings happen, they are indicators of our life to come (whether in this age or in glory), so that's why we pray for healing! We ask for the Kingdom to break in here and now, for people to experience the resurrecting power of Christ.

This is why we do what we do! This is Christ's love in the here and now.
