My guest today, Marla Lukofsky, is an all around entertainer; she’s a pioneer female stand-up comedian, has many tv, film and radio credits, is a character voice-over artist (most notably on Care Bears and Alf Tales) and has a lounge act where she sings jazz and American standards.

However, on today’s episode, “I’m Still Here...And So Is My Hair”, she’s here to share about surviving breast cancer not once but twice. 

She discusses her grueling ordeal of having a lumpectomy, aggressive chemotherapy regimen and radiation. She lost all her hair, had lymphedema and went through chemically induced menopause as a result. 

She ended up writing about her experience in a memoir titled “I’m Still Here...And So Is My Hair” and became a keynote speaker and published writer then was invited to give two Ted talks.

On today’s episode, COOL RUNNINGS ISRAEL: ARMY OF ONE, David tells all about being called out of the blue at the last minute to compete as a member of Israel’s bobsleigh team. He became a founding member and the following year they qualified for the World Championships. David thought he was done but was called upon again, this time to the administrative side. He helped the Israeli team get all the way to the 2018 Winter Olympics where he had the privilege of walking in the Parade of Nations . David is now the President of the Israeli Olympic Bobsleigh Skeleton Federation. There were a lot of struggles along the way and more to the story so I'll let David tell it...

I have to warn you as well; she never expected to see the humor in the craziness of it all and laugh so much while telling her story. She’s definitely gotten through it and is in a much better place now.
