This is Part 1 of a 2-part message on Romans 10:9 that is commonly used to teach a certain doctrine called Lordship Salvation - a doctrine which changes the gospel.

Please accept our apologies with the clipping. Chapter 10 begins with grappling with the conflict the Jews had between law and grace. Funny enough, a couple of thousand years later, the church is still grappling with this conflict. The hope is that through this message, you'll realise the simplicity or ease of becoming right with God. He's done all the hard work - please don't feel like you have to add to it. Just accept it!

This is the final instalment of messages on Romans 9 where Paul sums up his thoughts and answers the Jewish objectors of his time with Scripture.

Pastor Tim presents a Calvinistic interpretation of Romans 9 and explains 3 big inconsistencies with it. The third is explored in verse 22 when it comes to asking why God is needing to be patient with vessels of dishonour that are prepared for destruction. 

A common interpretation of this popular analogy is that the clay does not have any input into how the Potter moulds it. But is that really the case? 

The accusation is that there is injustice with God...but why? It may not be what you think!

This would probably be one of, if not, the most controversial verse in the whole of the Bible but it doesn't have to be. Pastor Tim expounds this verse and gives us an interpretation that doesn't have be controversial. He also goes further and reconciles the love of God with His hatred towards the wicked. Can He express both at the same time? You decide!

The answer to this question is really the dividing line that separates the two primary interpretations of this passage. Is Paul using this reference of Jacob and Esau to tell his audience that God has chosen one for salvation and the other to damnation OR is Paul telling his audience that God chose to use one for His purposes and not the other. Pastor Tim explains why the latter is the most logical conclusion to draw from these few verses and the application we can draw from it.

It's a question that people are afraid to ask because it implies God is reactionary and that is not the case because our Heavenly Father is an omniscient God. He is unable to react to anything because He already knows what is going to happen. But the contention lies within God's decisions and it's an important question to ask as it reflects the accuracy of God's sovereignty and character.
