The work that God has begun in you, He will complete it. This is called our glorification and Pastor Tim seems to interpret the Apostle, Paul, transitioning the topic of chapter 8 into this marvellous hope that we have. Of course, we reflect on our suffering but how do we actually suffer with Christ?

Adoption would have been a foreign concept to the Jew when it comes to being part of God's family. We have a privilege of calling the Creator of the Universe our Abba Father. And of course with adoption, comes the legal right to inherit everything that the other children inherit. In the spiritual realm, we inherit the same as Jesus Christ - everything! Pastor Tim unpacks this phenomenal truth in today's message.

It's a question that everyone needs to ask and it's actually a great question to ask someone if you're concerned over their salvation. Having the Holy Spirit living in you decides on whether you're saved or not. Pastor Tim gives some practical advice to answer this question and bring affirmation and confirmation to your identity.

Pastor Tim helps us distinguish between what it means to be in the flesh vs in the Spirit. The goal is to better understand our identity in Christ and that we can only be one and not both. There are two main laws in the spiritual world and one is superior to the other. That's of course the Law of Life - the law that determines that you are free from condemnation if you are in Christ Jesus. Pastor Tim uses these few verses to explain Christianity 101. Pastor Tim reminds the church of its vision, mission and values. With that comes some insight into what FCBC is looking to achieve in 2022.

We come to the part of the chapter where there seems to be two sides to the debate of whether this is Paul writing as a Jew to those "who know the Law" or whether this is an expression of his lamentations over his sin as a believer. Pastor Tim presents both views and explains why this passage has to be a testimony of Paul's, when he was trying to please the Lord under the Law.

Paul tackles another objection to this teaching of grace where it would have been Jews questioning whether the law of God was sin. Paul's response is again one of divine revelation in that it is sin that works through the law that causes us to stumble and fall short of the glory of God. Remember to keep on asking the question, "When does Paul stop addressing those who know the law?" 

Pastor Tim urges us to take special note of who Paul addresses in chapter 7 of Romans - those who know the law. Those with a Jewish heritage are on his mind and it is key to figure out when he stops addressing them as it solves the dilemma on wondering whether this chapter is a testimony of Paul's or it's a confession of his struggle with sin as a believer. Time will tell what Pastor Tim's conclusion is on this scholarly debate.
