PODCAST | Chiara Nicoletti interviews John Maddend, director of the film Operation Mincemeat.
It looks like a surreal story but it is based on true facts, Operation Mincemeat, directed by John Madden. The film had its world premiere in Malaga, its italian premiere in Bari at the Bif&st and will be released in theatres in May 12 with Warner Bros. The director confirms the film served also as an origin story to Ian Fleming’s James Bond/007. Operation Mincemeat oddly sees the participation of two formers Mr Darcy(s), Firth and Matthew Macfadyen and manages to build the suspence even though you can read from history books how the Operation ended, during World War II.
Operation Mincemeat: It’s 1943. The Allies are determined to break Hitler’s grip on occupied Europe and plan an all-out assault on Sicily; but they face an impossible challenge – how to protect a massive invasion force from potential massacre. It falls to two remarkable intelligence officers, Ewen Montagu (Colin Firth) and Charles Cholmondeley (Matthew Macfadyen), to dream the most inspired and improbable disinformation strategy of the war – centred on the most unlikely of secret agents: a dead man.

PODCAST | The WICIP podcast is the official podcast of the WICIP project – Women in Italian Cinema, an Inclusive Project – the first international project aimed at promoting Italian cinema written, produced, and directed by women, which is also available in an accessible version. It was selected as a Special Project by the Italian Ministry of Culture.
The mission of the project is to showcase women’s talent in cinema and promote Women Empowerment in an inclusive format.
One of the main goals of WICIP is to emphasise the importance of making films accessible to people with sensory disabilities according to the inclusivity standards now followed in many countries around the world. One in six people, at some point in their lives, will become sensory impaired; therefore, one of the primary aims of WICIP – in addition to drawing the attention of institutions, of the world of culture and entertainment and of audiences to female talent – is social inclusion. Thus, all the films selected by WICIP will be fully accessible, with subtitles for the deaf and hard-of-hearing and audio descriptions for the blind and visually impaired.

PODCAST | Matteo Ghidoni interviews Il Volo, singers of Il Volo Sings Morricone.
The Italian operatic pop trio talks about their new album entirely dedicated to the Maestro Ennio Morricone. “It’s the first time somebody sings the words on some the Morricone’s soundtracks. The words for the songs have been written but Andrea Morricone, son of the late Maestro. It’s an honor for us touring the world with this unique music and giving the voice to such a great piece of musical art. We all know Morricone’s soundtracks, but touring with them all over the USA, singing the melodies accompanied by actual words in front of an international audience, is a real sensation”.

PODCAST | Chiara Nicoletti interviews Domee Shi and Lindsey Collins, director and producer of the film Turning Red.
Oscar Winner Domee Shi and producer Lindsey Collins land in Rome to present Turning Red to the italian audience. The new Disney Pixar, on Disney + from March 11th, focuses on Meilin Lee a thirteen year old teenager in Toronto struggling between her mother’s expectations and her passions as a teen girl until the Red Panda in herself make its appearance. Domee Shi reveals that she wrote and directed the film to sort of talk to her thirteen years old self to tell her it’s ok to be messy and confused about who she is. Lindsey Collins describes her producing journey and her view on the film as a producer and as a mother of 3 teenagers.
Turning Red: Disney and Pixar’s “Turning Red” introduces Mei Lee (voice of Rosalie Chiang), a confident, dorky 13-year-old torn between staying her mother’s dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence. Her protective, if not slightly overbearing mother, Ming (voice of Sandra Oh), is never far from her daughter—an unfortunate reality for the teenager. And as if changes to her interests, relationships and body weren’t enough, whenever she gets too excited (which is practically ALWAYS), she “poofs” into a giant red panda! Directed by Academy Award® winner Domee Shi (Pixar short “Bao”) and produced by Lindsey Collins, Turning Red releases on March 11, 2022.
