  • Alex De la Iglesia – 30 Coins #Venezia77

PODCAST | Angelo Acerbi interviews Alex De la Iglesia, director of the film 30 Coins.

Talking with Alex De la Iglesia is a blast; he is funny and light as much as his films are dark and intense. This tv series makes no difference but he explains how having more time and more narrative space (and a strong support from the producers and the channel) made all the difference to him.

30 Coins: Welcome to a world where nothing is what it seems and nobody can be trusted. Vergara is an exorcist, boxer and ex-con sent to be a parish priest in a remote village. He wants to forget and be forgotten, but his enemies will soon find him. Strange things happen. A bizarre team of Mayor Paco and Elena, the veterinarian, seek the truth, while reality is distorted by a cursed coin that is at the center of a global conspiracy.

  • Frederick Wisemann – City Hall #Venezia77

PODCAST | Chiara Nicoletti interviews Frederick Wisemann, director of the film City Hall.

“I wanted to make a film about a government that works” . These are the words behind Frederick Wisemann’s new film City Hall about Boston City Hall, that it comes to show how involved in the city’s life the Boston government is. This is a lesson to learn from, comments Wisemann and the film ends up showing how inefficient Trump’s leadership when compared to the Boston City one.

City Hall: City government touches almost every aspect of our lives. Most of us are unaware of or take for granted these necessary services such as police, fire, sanitation, veterans affairs, elder support, parks, licensing of various professional activities, record keeping of birth, marriage and death as well as hundreds of other activities that support Boston residents and visitors. City Hall shows the efforts by Boston city government to provide these services. The film also illustrates the variety of ways the city administration enters into civil discourse with the citizens of Boston. Mayor Walsh and his administration are presented addressing a number of their policy priorities which include racial justice, affordable housing, climate action, and homelessness. City Hall shows a city government successfully offering a wide variety of services to a diverse population.
