CHESTERTOWN -Courtesy of the News Post — Oakdale senior field hockey players Brooke Butler and Claire Przybocki stood side by side on the turf field at Washington College on Saturday.

Tangling with a Marriotts Ridge team that featured a relentless attack, the Bears had just suffered a 1-0 loss in the Class 2A state championship game.

Heading into this season, the Bears (14-6) had never even qualified for the state Final Four, let alone earned a spot in the championship game. And that opportunity came after they made their first appearance in the Central Maryland Conference title game against Urbana last month.

Not a bad way for the team’s four seniors — Taylor Hardesty and Emma McGaha are the other two — to end their careers or a bad standard to set for the slew of players who will return next year.

Oakdale High School Boys Soccer Mission Statement It is the mission of the Oakdale High School Boys Soccer program to allow for a fun and rewarding experience in the sport of soccer while participating in a competitive high school athletic environment.
